What types of computers do people here have? Any particulars that you've had good or bad experiences with? I personally have a Lenovo laptop which has lasted me a long time and I'm quite pleased with it for the most part!

Yes, I will keep using my laptop, but if I bought a tablet, it would probably not be an iPad, as those seem more for apps than anything :)

I agree, it is nice to have mobile devices, though I think other tablets like Android or Windows tablets would be more suitable for me.

Well, I have a dell desk top and a lap top. I do not use my laptop much anymore and even considering selling it. I also have my HTC smartphone and an Acer tablet, so anytime I am somewhere where there is wifi I can be online and in here.

Actually I would like to have both a desktop and a laptop. A laptop for travel purposes and a desktop for family use.

Cool, I just use a laptop now as a university student. That way I can travel around and always keep my computer on me.

You should buy a desktop for home purposes, it's much better to have it.. :)

I would, but I feel that I don't really need it. Besides, as a student I am always on the move :P

Yes, the nice thing about desktops is the larger monitors that you can upgrade separately of the actual computer, and that your computer is much easier to customize than laptops. Also you can upgrade everything much easier in desktops and they obviously have more capability to be more powerful than other computers.

I have a Mac OS X, I have never been fortunate with Mac's, they keep developing faults and don't seem to last. My current one I bought in 2010 and already I have had to get a brand new hard drive fitted! Fortunately I took out extra warranty so it was covered. I also have a laptop a Fujitsu which I use more than the Mac, the only reason I got a laptop was that my Mac is so unreliable and when I take it to be repaired I am left without a computer!

Yea, Apple seems to be a company that you should get extended warranty with. My friend has an iPad and got extended warranty for it, and had it replaced twice without issue because of that. The are great as long as you do! It is always good to have a backup computer indeed, especially in today's age when computers are used for almost everything!

I am too using a Lenovo laptop. I bought it some 2 months before. I am very much pleased about its performance. I bought it just for playing games and browsing Internet. Earlier I used to do all these things in my mobile phone. Now I am happpy that I can browse pages more easily and in a faster manner.

The great thing about Lenovo seems to be the sturdiness. I've dropped mine a few times and it handled it like a boss! Also has lasted almost 4 years and still running quite well, though it can't handle high demanding games anymore.

I have at home a desktop computer, and an android smartphone. I'm planning to buy a laptop soon so I can continue my online income business everywhere I go. I usually prefer using desktop computers though much expensive performs better than a laptop, and the length of time you can use. Desktops can last longer in usage because we all know that computers use a lot of electricity and can produce heat, the desktop is much capable of dissipating heat within its core because of the various cooling fans inside, so you will have no issues of overheating. My desktop is about 4 years old now, and still performing at its best, although it is advisable for me to upgrade now, but maybe sooner or later I may buy a newer desktop also.

That is definitely true about the heat. Laptops can get hot if you are using a lot of power, and although some have nice fans, desktops still have better cooling, especially if you manage to get your hands on liquid cooled processors.

I have a dell laptop. I find Dell and HP to be pretty good computers. I have an ipad, but don't use it as my main computer. The ipad doesn't allow for multiple screens to be opened at once - side by side. Plus you can't use flash drive on ipad. Depending on what you use your computer for, I would pick a laptop or desktop over an ipad.

Cool, yea Dell and HP are quite good. And iPad seems more for fun than for getting stuff done, which is why if I got a tablet I'd probably go with one of the microsoft surfaces, since they have flash and such.

Thanks for the post! I'd also like to note ASUS is now making laptops instead of just making chips for them and such. They tend to make good products.

Cool, thanks for the response! Did you assemble your pc or did you buy it?
15 Feb 13
my computer is not a specific make because of the fact that I bought the individual components and built it myself. the good thing about doing this is that I can upgrade parts separately to be able to play newer games as well as the fact that it means that I can spread the cost of the computer out over a long period of time. so far I have had a good experience with msi motherboards as well as asrock motherboards, I am currently using a gainward graphics card which seems to work as you would expect and I use AMD cpus because although they run hotter I believe that you get better value for money.

Nice, building a computer always seemed like it could be a fun project, and I may do it eventually using parts from my old computers. I would probably use a GTX 660 graphics card as I have one in one of my computers and it is quite excellent.

I have a SAMSUNG laptop.I bought it 10 months ago and the keyboard has been driving me crazy.I think about to buy a wireless keyboard but I know it takes a lot space no matter how small it is! I want everything as simple as it should be with knowing it is not as flexiable as we are expecting to be.

What's wrong with the keyboard? Wireless keyboards can be nice, especially if you connect your computer to your tv for movies online and stuff. That way you can sit on the couch while surfing the web on your big screen tv. Only issue is they will run out of batteries :P

We have a computer, a laptop and a ipad in my home. From my own experience, I like computer for its great function. Usually with the same hardware, the computer can perform best. Laptop is used in bed or travel to work. Ipad here is a symbol of fashion, till now I still do not know how to make full use of it.

Thanks for the answer, I agree on the iPad, it seems more used for the apps and games and such. I think the new windows tablet would be more useful for work and such.
