When individuals choose to become a member of a team, they have an obligation something bigger than themselves. Obligations and duties do not have negative connotations to a "team first" person.
They accept their responsibilities that come with making the group succesful by understanding and embracing their role. Duty encompasses a sense of self-dependence and interdependence within the team.
It is personal accountability that turns into collective trust and reliability.

Unfortunately, I don't think everyone has the same drive and determination when it comes to accountability in being a member of a team. That's why some rise up to be leaders, and some remain as followers when they are thrust into teams.
I'm sort of on the fence. I'm content in being a follower, but when there is no clear leader, I'd grudgingly take it up.

Hello dear Bounce I´m happy to read you here. Rudyard Kipling wrote "The strenght of the wolf is in the pack and the strenght of the pack is in the wolf"
Teamwork ia a rare "gift" that allows ordinary people to attain extraordinary results. The only rule is "don´t let your teammates down. The ratio of we´s to I´s is the best indicator of the development of a team, talking about personal commitment.
Thanks you for writting.

Sadly being part of the team often ends with waiting for that other person to do all the work that's why I prefer to do things by myself. It's really frustrating when you have to do everything simply cause the rest is a bunch of lazy people. I wouldn't like to be in a situation where I'm the one who is useless. So the most important part in being in a team is organisation.

too bad that we all can't see that we are automatically part of a team known as the human race. we are then part of sub team known as community. our neighborhood, schools, family, household, etcetera a lot of us operate on an individual basis every single day. and although people like this think they will reap great rewards, best behavior is not very rewarding at all for that particular person or those around them.

Hello Jalucia, you are right. Vince Lombardi wrote " Individual commitment to a group effort is what makes a team work, a family work, a company work, a society work and a civilization work".
One of the most fundamental responsibilities of successful team leadership is to eliminate selfishness. Selfishness on the team level or with any individual player will destroy a team faster than anything else will. A team-first attitude allows people to accept roles that make others better. Great teams have individual players who each make their own unique contribution to the group´s success. At least one person needs to have the skills to perform each of the duties necessary for the team to collectively function. Although some roles appear to have more importance than others, in reality, it is the combination of skills that allows a team to reach its ultimate pontential.

Very well said, dainy! When one belongs to a team, the foremost intention is what would make the team do better. And each input by a member should benefit the whole team all the time.

Hello dear friend Jenny, I´m glad to read you here! Luccock wrote " No one can whistle a symphony. It takes an orchestra to play it".
Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision, the ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to obtain uncommon results.
On Philippians 4:2 we can find "Make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpuse" I found it lovely
Thanks you for writting me back Jenny.

I agree about being a team player is more than thinking of ourselves all the time. Everybody works for one goal and strives to achieve the one common goal that binds them together. I love being part of a team, but of course I don't have to like everyone in the team. And always, there will always be someone that's in the team that I wouldn't like. But since we have to work together, I can set aside that feeling and continue working with the rest.

Hello Raine, I´m happy to read you friend. Catherine Pulsifer wrote " A team based on environment demands that you make responsible decisions; it requires you to take charge of your career. It requires you to develop excellent interpersonal skills because you have to interact at a much different level with our team members. No longer is it just you and your job".
And Mike Fratzky says " Before you can be externally competitive, you must be internally cooperative".
And it´s true, and this can be applied to any kind of team, office teamwork, or family teamwork. I´m very happy to know that you are work focused.
Have a nice day.

Hello Extreme I´m so pleased to read you here. There´s a say "I searched for stardom, stardom I could not see, I searched for victory, victory eluded me, I searched for teamwork, and found all three".

I have faced with a situation in a team that there are some of the members consider themselves are the most senior and must be respected in all the way. I think that kind of attitude is not good in a team. In a team, the members have to be respect each other and work together to achieve goals.

Hello Janurmas, I´m glad to read you, you are right, it´s ineffective pride. Bernard Baily wrote " When science discovers the center of the universe a lot of people will be disappointed to find they are not it".
They lack of humility. This kind of pride can be easily seen in teams that are not stable. Their "false pride" comes and goes with each victory or loss. Too often, this kind of pride is dependant on outcome instead of process, wins instead of work habits. It doesn´t last, and it isn´t healthy.
This kind of pride is often confused with arrogance or a sense of entitlement. Both attitudes are destrutive to the team and on a personal level. A sense of entitlemente where the participants feel taht they deserve special privileges or that normal rules do not apply to them, can quickly destroy a team quickly from the inside out.
Thanks you for writting!
