Hi aqirock, You write good English. I can understand what you wrote. If you can spend more time here at myLot, I believe you will have great improvement in your English writing. In Malaysia we learn English as our second language since primary school. We learn to read , write and speak in English. Yes, you are absolutely right. English is widely use worldwide. I hope to learn Chinese Mandarin too as Mandarin is important in business world nowadays.

My English is not superb as well. That's why I'm here, trying to participate as much as I can to help improve my English. I'm glad though that I've learned but still there's so much to improve. I'm sure we can help each other out here, right?

I am an Indian.I feel,English is imposed on us.I agree with you that it is very important language,but I don't like it dominating our own languages.Leave it.We all commit mistakes while writing English,and it's normal.Consult some good grammar books,and correct the mistakes you have been making.I do exactly that.Rest assured,our posts are not edited in Mylot and we all non native English speakers commit grammatical mistakes here.Don't bother.

as english is the world language it is too important to learn and improve it specially for those who use the internet. My mother language is diffrent and I just hope my english will improve here in mylot .

it is the international language , it is a must to learn it. i speak english to my children so they wont be left behind. it is an advantage in so many level if you are well verse in both oral and written english

Language is a tool for communication. As now English speaking countries are the most powerful countries, people have to know their language. If someday in the future, other language speaking country become the most powerful one, we have to learn the new language as we now learn English.

Though I am a native English speaker and there is no other language with which I would be able to converse in fluently, I do have to tell you that you are definitely not alone in being a person that is a member here that is not a native English speaker. In fact, I know that there are a lot of people on here that will use mylot as an avenue for learning so that they will be able to become more comfortable with the English language for future jobs, etc.

Everyone starts from being a beginner. With practice you will also improve your English skills! It is true that English is a useful language to learn as it helps us communicate with most people in the world. Some pay big bucks just to learn it. We are fortunate to have learned it at a young age in school.

Reality check .. knowledge in english is an advantage because it is the only means to communicate with other living in the different sides of this world but for me it is not a requirement, you can still communicate and express yourself to everyone in your special means or in special way. In Philippines , it is added in their curriculum ( elementary & high school public school)to use local language/ regional language as official language of instruction.This is to effectively deliver the lesson accurately and also to help the students to understand the lesson easily and deeply. Fluent in english doesn't necessarily follow that such person is smart.. I encountered a lot of people like that..

not so here in mexico, but on the border towns with the usa it is. We are along way from the border here in mexico city. About 3600 miles from here.

True. Nowadays, It is a need that we learn English and impart it in our day to day living. It is needed in applying in First class countries. Like for us nurse, We cannot apply in australia, canada, uk, ireland, usa if we do not pass IELTS exam. English is really a pre requisite in aiming first class job abroad.

I think it is good to study new languages. The good think about studying English is that most of the countries people speak English in addition to their mother language. I think there are lots of materials available in the Internet that helps to study English.

For the time being, English is the priority as a language. But I would not bet on it as everything changes with time. Yet I will not see it. I have heard though that many people in business are learning Chinese as well as English. So, who knows?

True indeed. English makes us to communicate mostly to anywhere in the world. English makes us global and it makes everyone as one. English is not a priority. It is just an established language and it is important to know it because , since it is widely established, you could speak to people from any part of the world in english. You need not apologize for not knowing proper english. It is not your mother tongue. You should be ashamed and should apologize only if you do not know how to speak and converse in your mother tongue. English is just another language and you are speaking this good, it is because of your effort that you have been put into learning the language and we will all certainly appreciate it. My mother tongue is also not english, but then we all learn english but then not because it is a priority, but because it is a widely established language. Happy mylotting.

I started learning English when i joined school, but i can remember in school no one took the language seriously.Teachers would force us to converse in English but we opted to converse in our local dialects. I remember when i joined secondary school we would mock teachers by talking in direct translation from our native languages.But here i am struggling to write good articles in English, i wish i listened.

Do not be conscious about your writing. I know even though English is not your primary language, eventually you will definitely improve as time passes by. What matters is that everyone can understand your point.
