The pre-match was dominated by Liverpool's fear and concern about the players safety after some racism fears. But when the match started, Liverpool were hampered by their own ability of scoring goals. After this result, Liverpool will find it hard to proceed to the next round of the only competition that they have left to play for.

i think there still a change for liverpool when the match held in anfield for the second leg. because i think what liverpool need is just to be consistance. the good performance showed when they beat swansea for 5 goals. it was very impressif. and if this team play like that in the european leage i think they should win and beat zenit at least for 2-0.

liverpool indeed there are players - they are the best players but the game is inconsistent, sometimes with lowly wrote often lost and the proof is now far into mid-table Premier League, and the zenith in russia especially respected club recently bought a quality forward and indeed the zenith deserved the win from liverpool

Liverpool has lost its flair and its will to challenge against top teams already. No longer a champion and seriously need a manager such as Rafa Benitez and Jose Mourihno

The chances are slim for Liverpool to beat Zenit St Petersburg by a similar 2-0 or better scoreline at Anfield. But it is certainly not impossible. Don't we forget the 3-3 draw that The Reds got against AC Milan after being three goals down in that famous European Cup final?

Having watched Liverpool for some time now, I always wonder why they have been performing rather inconsistently even with world-class players in their team - Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez and the latest arrival of Daniel Sturridge. Even if squad playesr like Downing, Jose Enrique and Daniel Agger aren't considered as talented as the above mentioned players, there's still some class and quality the way they play compared to other teams. Perhaps there is a need for a change of managers once again.
