It was really a good experience climbing into a mountain. We went to Mt. Pico De Loro in Batangas last 2011. Woke up at 3am and we left at 4am. We arrived in Batangas around 6am. At first we do stretching after stretching of course we started our walk. 6:30 am we started our walk. At first we were so energetic and excited because some of us including me had our first experience in trekking. While walking I already saw a cliff which is not that stiff, but of course as a first timers, my knees are shaking that time lol i grabed my friend's hand so I can get along with them. We walk few kms and feel get tired. We had our breakfast under the trees and some had a little nap. After we ate our breakfast we started to walk again. We already see the peak which make us really excited, took a picture, took a time to rest etc. It's not that easy to climb the peak especially first timer coz it's really scary, we had a rope on top so it's easier for us to climb. And now we already on top of the peak, it was cold and you can see places 360 degrees :) This experience is very rewarding and everytime I remember this experience I can't help but to fall my tears. Because in my life, I can never imagine that I can make it. Climbing to Mt. Pico de Loro is one of the best experience that I will not forget.

Hi there Dimples! Climbing a mountain is one of the things that I'd like to do someday. My sister climbs mountains and I am so interested to feel how she feels whenever she reaches the summit. She can't really explain it precisely according to her but just the was that she describes it makes me want to feel that too. The only thing is that I have zero experience in climbing mountains and I am not in good shape yet but I'm working on it.

You better try it, just like what I have said I'm not a professional climber, we were just there because it's an activity in our office and those who are interested may join, and I join without any practice, it was just like I was just joining a marathon, but marathon is also a different thing (I also join fun run too) Fun run is not that easy because you will run, jog, walk under the sun which is really hard unlike climbing the mountains will never get you feel exhausted because you will walk under the trees. By the way Mt Pico de Loro is approx 664 meters above sea level, its 10km back and forth, so if you're planning to have an adventure in Pico de Loro, you better bring lots of energy bar and water! Goodluck :)

Mountain climbing is fun. But firstly one needs to be completely fit to do that. And Secondly, I hope you do not have balance problems.

@Nanayangel! You're not alone. In my 33 years of existence, I have never ever climbed a mountain. Like you,I also have friends who are addicted to mountain climbing. Whenever they tell their experiences, I also want to share the inexplicable joy they experience whenever they reach the summit. Now,I have a new entry for my bucket list - climbing a mountain.

Yup Mountain climbing or treking is fun. We have a mountain in our city. I have been to it at least three times from two different routes. There are still two routes I have not tried. One of them is supposed to be the most difficult. I will be training in gym hard to get my stamina back and hopefully soon be trekking to the mountains.

Well these routes are the most popular among avid moutain climbers and trekkers. They are spoken about and written about every now and then. So if your are even little way interesting, you get to know the basic routes at least.

Mountain climbing was never a hobby for me. I would rather lookout on the mountains from a distance. It is so astounding and amazing to look up at a mountain and take in its strength and its beauty. It can really blow your mind. I don't think i could summon up the courage to scale the mountain just to reach the top.

haha that's what my thinking too before i haven't experience mountain climbing, but you see i made it! my inspiration is my boss who is already 81 years old and yet he can still reach the peak of Kota Kinabalu which is the highest mountain in southeast asia. imagine he's 3x of my age but still he has the strength, courage and determination just to reach the peak. i truly admire him for his compassion in climbing the mountains. get rid of your fear, there's nothing wrong if you will try, and you will see how beautiful it is when you reach on top :)

I did twice in a month five years ago. I know it was a long time but still I did conquer a mountain in Batangas too. My climbed was for a youth retreat that I headed. It was for a change thing and a mountain top experience too. We stayed there for two nights and three days. We mostly starved because there's just no food to be found and no water too. So some of my youth would go down and get food. They left early in the morning and come back almost night time. to sum it all.. it was very fun still.

What mountain is that? Is it Mt Batulao? We alao went there sometime November 2011 but I didn't reach the summit because of the heat of the sun, it was really hot that time and they're only few tree sheds that's why I really can't take the heat. A day before we went to Mt Batulao, it rained that's why its slippery. I also agree with you that it was really fun

That's really nice. My only experience of climbing was in province and it was just a hill. My knees were also shaking after reaching the top of the hill and later that night my legs were aching but it was good because after many times of climbing the hill my knees stopped shaking and I think it became stronger.

I remember when we came back here in Manila from our trekking around 9pm, i quickly get my cameras (take note cameras) LOL we almost got tons of photos from our experience in Mt. Pico de Loro and never get tired until i uploaded all of our photos in Facebook. Following day my knees and legs are already shaking. It's nice to know that you also have a passion in climbing a mountain

I'm sure you'd want to do it again but in another mountain. I went with my ex-boyfriend in climbing Mt. Mayon. It was tough and I didn't get to the peak. My arms and feet were already sore and I could hardly walk on our way back. This was back in 2005.

Yeah i did, but I failed :( my 2nd experience is in Mt. Batulao, but i failed to reach the peak because i can't really take the heat of the sun. it was just like i was roasting myself under the sun LOL I haven't into Mt. Mayon, is it stiff? When we got the news that we will have a trekking in Pico de Loro, my friends and I go to the mall to buy a pair of trekking shoes, because other co-workers who already had an experience in climbing told us that ordinary shoes or sandals cannot make it. As we go along the way to the mountain, there are some of people who have stopped just to make sure there shoes/sandals are still in good condition. And some of them were crying in pain also because they used the wrong type of shoes. Maybe you used the wrong type of shoes that's why your feet get sore

Oh we have climbed Mt. Pico de Loro as well! We went up from batangas as well and we traversed and got down Cavite. Then since it is a long weekend back then, we proceeded to this island and we are the only ones there. We pitched our tents once more in there and slept. We had a bonfire and we had so much fun. Then the following day, our hired boat and fisherman came to fetch us.

Anyways I have friends also that had been there in mt. Pico de loro and they say it was really breath taking when you reached the top.. I hope someday I can find time to also experienced it..

If you can see the photo that I uploaded here, the view at the peek is 360 degrees. We stayed at the peek for almost 30 mins. took a photo with my friends (just like what I have posted) and we enjoy breathing fresh air all the way up there. :D

Great story. I like climbing to a mountain too. My best friends and I were climbing to mountain and made a camp in a very cool mountain. The air in the mountain was very cool and fresh. We took many photos there. Almost all of our photos were valley and sea view of background. It was the most exciting camping. I always remember that mountain which was very beautiful and still far from habitation.
