A New Bill Was Introduced to Congress...A Democrat Wants to Reinstate the Draft,

And he wants to include women in the registration for the selective service just like men...That would make the draft a 50/50 ratio of men to women...Now that women can be put into combat they figure they should be equal in numbers with men... Idiots...No other country does this, not even the ones that DO put women in combat situations...The only thing that this will do is further weaken our military. His says that the reasoning for doing this is, that with women on the front lines it will make the POTUS and Congress think twice before becoming involved in conflict...What, the country loves its women more than its men? Get a grip...they NEVER take the lives of the military into consideration before they do whatever they want to do. We are just numbers not men and women... If this bill is passed, it also calls for mandatory two year service either in the military or a civil service position that was not named...Hmm...12 years of socialistic indoctrination in the public school system is not enough...now young people will get 2 more years of indoctrination...This bill is not about keeping us Secure, rather, it is to Secure us...

I am not certain that reinstating the draft will have the same power and conviction in the military as it did in years past. The draft is forcing men and now women to take part in military service to the country instead of volunteering to serve, I don't think it will be seen in the same light by men and women and may even deter people from believing the military can survive that way. Entering military service should be a choice and not a sign of force.

As much as the libs say that they want us out of Afghanistan and every other military theater...most of them are making a killing financially. They do not really want the wars to stop. They know that they will need a bigger field to choose from in the future...There just aren't that many young people today like there were in the Nam era etc...

Generally when something is mandatory in a country, it is never called "a sign of force" but a "duty".

I think young people are willing to fight when there is a cause that they believe in. A lot of them enlisted after Sept. 11.

Well, looks like DEMANDING equal rights is paying off. Thank your feminazis for this. I see where it makes sense. If women want the same, then they get it. Color me silly, but I still like men to open the door and I like compliments. I agree with the old quote (author is debatable) women who seek equal rights with men, lack ambition.

Men and women even those of equal Height and Weight are still not equal in strength and endurance...Women do have superiority in other ways but not in strength. It is good to be different...

Right now it seems like the current selective service law is biased because it requires men between the ages of 18 and 26 to register. If they don't register, then they can not apply for federal grants or loans in particular loans or grants for education. Also if they do not apply they are barred from holding government jobs. In some states they can also be barred from obtaining state aid or going to college at state colleges.

It is not so much biased as draconian...

The ghost of draft is exhumed times to times in countries that have suppressed it. The main hidden reason is not to indoctrinate citizen but to reduce artificially unemployment during economical crisis. Indeed it would work better with this in mind if women were also included.

I think that it is time for all war to end...We are supposed to be such an advanced civilization...Why do we still have a need to kill each other. We need to find a way to control the miscreants killing each other...Or just let them... I was in the Navy...If women had to go into combat at the time I enlisted...I would never have joined...I am not a coward, I just really believe in what I said above...

I know that many are enlisting in the army and are hoping that no war will happen during their enlistment. It does not mean that they are cowards, but it is a risky bet : In France, soldiers are statistically classified among the non working population when they are not at war. An army has to work times to times. The draft was still existing when I was a student but I had an exemption from military service and was put directly among the reservists.

I don't see people standing for this. The only reason I can think why this might get passed (which I doubt will happen) would be if war were about to erupt... and with north korea testing nukes, it is a possible and scary thought with the lunatic in charge there :/

I think that the whole point of this is to get more people working for the government and beholden to the political power in office for their job...

they have been wanting to do that for a long time now. i think they just want to have us all killed. putting us all in the military is a great way to do it.

I don't see the mandatory military service happening at all. The main reason is that the military is very strict about screening its applicants ahead of time. They measure both a candidate's ability to handle service and the ability to do certain jobs. They are looking for people who have math skills, electrical skills, mechanical skills, etc. They aren't just accepting everyone who applies. Add in the reductions in the near future and the budget just doesn't have the room to accept every one. Especially, with a President that is so bent on downsizing the military. Are there even civil service jobs? I know there are a couple of programs but those are mostly privately funded stuff which means that they can't accept every candidate that crosses their door either. Seriously, this bill has major issues.

Considering they are trying to downsize all military groups to a miniscule size...I do not see it happening either. I do see a mandatory civil service requirement. The obamderthal promised that this would happen from his first campaign...

Honestly, I doubt this would ever pass and if it did somehow, it wouldn't be instated for long. It wont weaken the military as some women are just as good at taking physical damage or shooting as men. It will however cause a bigger issue as they wouldn't be able to screen nearly as many people. It would just be overall bad. They risk taking many Americans with mental disorders and I would hope that our congress whether democrat or republican would think of the issues with that. After several events that have happened in this country, I don't think anyone wants to see mentally unstable people with weapons and access to more powerful weapons. For now, I think this person just wants them to realize war isn't the answer. I wouldn't call children getting an education socialistic indoctrination unless you are implying that it would be better if everyone was just barely smart enough to work. For the two years of service to the military, the same military that easily scared people want to have an even larger budget, I have heard some people down south and primarily red states fully agree with having young people serve a mandatory two years and some want a mandatory five years. I couldn't tell you what is going to happen with them just that some people fully agree with that.
