The Philippines’ largest bookstore chain has withdrawn Chinese-made globes showing Beijing’s claims to most of the West Philippine Sea (South China Sea) from its shelves.
“The National Bookstore has withdrawn all the educational globes, which reflect China’s nine-dash line encompassing the South China Sea , from its stores,” Department of Foreign Affairs spokesman Raul Hernandez said.
“It has taken a patriotic position to proactively support the Philippine government in advancing support the Philippine government in advancing Philippine foreign policy objectives,” he said.

That's the way to do it.
I wonder why they claim something so far from their land and don't think about those nations that is really close to that area should have the right to own it.who knows they might also claim the pacific ocean one day...lol

That may work but at the risk of our OFW that depend their salary to their employers. If they would risk losing their job for that I guess in the end our OFWs and our country would be in the losing end. You can pretty well know that Chinese Government is not as lax as our government and anything they see as threat to their country is given penalty as well. I do not want that to happen with our OFW doing their patriotic act.

so they wanted to brainwash their citizen into believing that it was theirs.maybe we should tell all our ofw' s to spread the word that it is our and the chinese wanted to gey it from us.if every domestic helper will tell these to all the kids on their work.im sure it can also male a lot of impact .

well the concerned area is rich in natural gas. but i heard that chinese teach it in their school that the disputed islands really belong to them. that's the great problem i think.

My salute to the owners of National Book Store, Maria Socorro Cancio Ramos or fondly called " Nanay (mother)Coring" and her husband Jose Ramos for just being fair and in the side of truth. Just to be fair with all parties concerned, those territories are still " disputed" so to be fair no one has the right to ever put that in their map or globe as if to show it is their own and this goes for all the claimnants namely the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam. Brunei and China, I really feel it was the right thing to do " fair is fair" and again that goes for all parties concerned! Is it why it's called " National " book store??

Just to put it in proper perspective, we are claiming only those that belong to our EEZ or exclusive economic zone as as prescribed by the United Nations convention on the Law of the sea or UNCLOS http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exclusive_economic_zone ( kindly look at Philippines in my link) in which mentioned countries are signatories. Cases are handled by ITLOS or International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Tribunal_for_the_Law_of_the_Sea wherein the Philippines has already filed a case against China.
China on the other hand sticks to her 9 dash line map that claims almost the whole of the West Philippine Seas extending to our shores and all of the disputed islands with other countries, these said maps are the ones in the globes and on their passports that we rejected.

Well I think that is a good move for them to do so since they are a Filipino company and it is just right to stop selling that promotes wrong information that is against our beliefs.
It seems to look like China has found a way to promote this by creating this innocent products like globe to reiterate what they want to claim. I can imagine that they also are selling this not only to the Philippines but around the world just to reiterate their claim. Nice and creative way to campaign huh!

Well, I think it is the rightful thing to do. No use in misleading the people with the truth.

yes, truth should be universal and accepted by all. if there are oppositions, then it's not yet considered truth.

Good job to National bookstore! And special praise goes to the person who actually checked the globes and found that incorrect representation.
