Has anyone quit smoking cold turkey before? How did it work out for you?
I decided to quit smoking and doing it cold turkey.. I have tryed before using the patch,gum,e-cigarettes etc.. But none of those worked out for me.
But this time I am ready to quit for good. So far what I have planed to distract me from my cravings is: clean something, organize something,go for a walk, drink a tall glass or water. That is all I have for now but will keep adding as I go.
I have my husbands support also, he is also quitting. He is using champix to help him..
Has anyone quit cold turkey? What should I expect? Did it work for you?
Any advice is much appreciated :-)

I think I will be posting a lot on here when that stage comes. lol I will try to vent it all out on here instead of snapping at everyone in my house.

I have never done it. I have tried every other means of quitting besides cold turkey and chantex. The Chantex kind of scares me to be honest. I am not one to take any meds. Ive heard positive stories from that were successful with it. Mostof those that I know that hae quit sucessfully have quit cold turkey. I need to quit but I have been cutting back first. I do have an e cig and it does help curb the cravings. I only take a hit or two to take the edge off.

I the same, im not one to take meds either. heck when I get a headache I tough it out. but my husband is quiting using Champix.. i am afraid to even touch the pills after reading the side effects.
I would rather do this cold turkey as i know if i take any stop smoking aids it wont work.

I have never been a smoker even though my mother and father were. My father quit at some point but I don't know what method he used but it was probably cold turkey since it was before patches and things. My mother quit cold turkey when her throat cancer was diagnosed. I think the cancer was motivation enough for her. I was no longer living in our home town, had a job far away, so I wasn't around much to see how it went.

Ive never had that habit. But I have a great friend that does. But Im sure he cant quit like that. He knows its bad for him, but its a terrible habit to have.

Yes it is a bad habit, it stinks and also expensive, I spend $9/day for a pack sometimes twice that amount if I smoke more.
I've been smoking for 11 years and I think it's time I quit!
