Recently, I published a children's book. It cost me $500.00 to get it published. Now I realize that I will be lucky if I Ggt at least the money I put into it. I sold a few books. but what I would like to know does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can sell more books. I know there are ways such as going to book stores and talk about your book, but there must be other ways. I'd appreciate it if anyone can give me some good advice.

It''s already being sold on Amazon and I'm telling people to get the ebook version becasus it is cheaper. I think Amazon is selling i for a very high price for the reular version. Thanks for your advice.

Hey you are so cool!!! Putting a risk in making and selling your own books!
Yes yo can sell it using facebook and with the help of your friends by liking it and share it to their other friends... and if they want to buy it of course you need to add a shipment fee.
Looking forward to hear for your great start in selling it online and future success in doing a lot of books and be one of the best seller in children's books!

Wow, you are a writer I envy that it is quite easy to get a book published in USA. Here it will be checked by many departments and I think the cost will be more than USD500. If here personal publishing can be so convenient, I would like to have a try. I am very interested in the books you published. Perhaps you can try to promote it via the net. Good luck!

The first thing that came to my mind was congratulating you.
Anyways, one of the most important steps is don't leave any option you can to make your book known. There are many ways you can do it. Some of them have been mentioned already above. So, I won't be repeating them. I once tried to publish my own work, just as a sample as to how it would look and work. I am also in the process of writing something (it's a secret at the moment ). I used Lulu to set my things there. However, I didn't peruse the topic too much and so was stuck in between.
But honestly, spending $500 was a bit too much. Hope you get back your amount that you invested soon.

tell your online/offline friends. Create a website/blog about that book or anything that involves that book. You can also try selling it online, but I don't have that much first-hand information about selling books online. You could also look for blogs or websites that talks about children's books or books in general. I have seen hundreds of book clubs online as well as people that review books.

The publisher of your book should have given you some ideas as to how to get them out on the market

Wow!
Congratulations! You are really a superb writer!
Perhaps aside from having your own website, you can also use your profile in order to post these books. I think there are also sites wherein you can sell your books.
Have a nice day!

If you paid for publishing your own book then I'm afraid it wasn't very smart move. It would be better if you'd just look for someone to publish it for you and take care of the promotion of your book. Sure it may be hard to find someone willing to publish your book, someone who will see a potential in it but the people who know this business at least can tell you if you gonna earn some money on it or not. Writing for kids is something that brings a very little money. Usually famous people do it just for fun. But you wanted to earn some money or at least not to loose that $500.00. And you chose wrong way. Your book can attract some kids attention if the cover is colorful and nice and if the pictures are pretty and there's a lot of them. Some gadget would help to sell your book as well. Kids like those things. Well I hope it will turn out ok. Good luck and congratulations anyway.
