This is what I often heard in our lesson. the problem with the mindset of the filipinos like me whom we always teach to our children which is" STUDY harder so that when you grow up you can find a good job withe benefits." But in other nation in businessman. They will say "Study harder so that when you grow up you will run our business." Many people compared this but haven't seen the difference with it.The filipino who are telling this doesn't have business , and of course he cannot tell his children to say to have a business because beside they don't have he also don't have capital and when his children grow up and finish studies of course he will not gain money from education and he need to find a job first and if he find a good job good salary he can earn money so then he can start to run his own business so that when you grow up you will run your business or be employer when you know that your earnings is only enough to survive the daily living Of course their first step is to find a good job.and the later are wealthy and they do no longer need to be employee for they are already employer of themselves and hey are the one who hired employee instead.

you bring up a good point. instead of teaching our children that success is growing up and working for someone else. you will never be truly successful as long as you are working for someone else, because you are not financially free.

ya, I am only referring that no one wants to be employee and to be under by a boss.everyone wanted to be a boss and have their own business. but the only option thyey have is to be employee to work for someone else as a stepping stone .

Education is vital to everyone. It is not a guarantee for a better future but it is but is one way of getting there. Mostly children end up with the work their parents been showing them or parents having business will end up having a children in business also. I heard from one symposium that Western parents are telling their children to be good and finish school so they can build their own business while some Filipino parents asked kids to finish and excel in school so they can apply a blue color job after having a degree but the problem in this is when in real scenario already. Children starts to apply for a blue collar job because having a profession but still can't be accepted because employment system is not what you know but whom you know. So no chance for those who have no connections.

i guess you're right. my child is seven and she is set to be a teacher, but instead of dreaming of being employed, she would like to have her own school, she will be the administrator. she actually have plans on what job she can give to her sister. i

There are people who are inherently enterprising so they put up business and have good success in it. But there are those who are not but they make good with getting good employment from good companies anyway. So it the individual natural inclination that will matter here and not how one would would advice others to be even if the adviser is a parent, an uncle, an aunt, a grandparent or any one for that matter.

I think it is not blaming but a reminder for a change to the better. To study harder is of necessity but how to implement it is different. Implementation of what you have learned is vital for if you have the guts and capital you can start your own business. If somebody was using you as an example then treat as a challenge who knows by that words you will be encourage to build a business of your own in the future.
