Winter will soon be over but lately, my lips are unexpectedly severely dry.
So I browsed the internet to look for the possible cause/s
of this and tips on how to remedy chapped lips.
And I got this following information:
1. Licking your lips cause more drying. So better stop licking your lips
because it doesn't actually moisturize it but as the saliva evaporates, it furthers the dehydration.
The saliva contains acid from food we took that can irritate compromised lip skin.
2. Lip biting and picking will cause further drying. Whenever you bite your lips
the protective covering is removed, it can lead to bleeding and discomfort. And it further slows down
the healing process of the lips.
3. Ensure your body is not deficient in B vitamins, iron or essential fatty acids.
The lack of these nutrients may cause the cracking of lips. So make sure to take food that has
these essential nutrients to prevent scaling and cracking of lips.
4. Drink plenty of water. Increase your water intake to keep yourself hydrated all the time.
5. Use lip balm. This is the most common way to heal and prevent chapping of lips. But remember
that lip balm moisturizes but not hydrates so you could use products that will hydrate your lips,
then use lip balm to seal moisture out so that lips cannot absorb moisture from the air, or from any
hydrating formula applied to lips.
Especially during winter, we need to protect our lips from drying out.

i always have chapped lips in the winter. i think my main reason for having chapped lips is what they said about not drinking water. i definitely need to do more of that.
