Some of the claims made for large earnings are undoubtedly true to a certain extent BUT it is worth noticing that nearly all of them are making these claims in order to SELL you something - a course or description of the method, usually. One can't help wonder whether that is their real source of wealth, not the actual 'method' they are promoting!
There are plenty of people who have certainly made very large incomes from online businesses - look at Facebook, Amazon, eBay, to mention just a few. There are also thousands of people who make a good income but keep quiet about it (for various reasons).
So what do all these successful people have in common? They are running their OWN businesses ... they are NOT working for sites which pay them on a piece-work or freelance basis. Anyone can see what they are selling and how they have had the tenacity, foresight, skills and good fortune to be where they are today. They may publish their incomes (if they are a public limited company) but they don't shout them from the rooftops and, while they may not mind competition, they don't go out of their way to give you the false impression that you, too, can do the same as they have done.
If you have a good business sense and the skills and determination to make a decent living from anything, using the Internet as your main tool, then good luck to you! It can be done.

It is really hard to make living using the online income. We need more patience, hard work and experience to make a great money from online sites. Some persons make a huge money from internet based on their skills and experience.

You can't get rich online overnight. Or over a week. Even after a year. I worked for nine years in an office and I didn't get rich either even if I worked overtime everyday 6 days a week. But what I earn from going to an office, I earn online. So I'm glad that I'm fortunate to find a regular employer in Odesk and have different sites that pays, too. Not much but at least I'm able to pay my bills and have a vacation every once in a while. I think that those who really earns online are forex traders. I know one. But he studied it very carefully and lose a lot of money before he was able to earn huge.

Nobody who works for someone else, either as an employee or freelance, will ever be 'rich' (in the sense that the word is usually used). They may have a comfortable or even a better-than-average income but unless one works for oneself one is dependent on other people to pay you an agreed amount.
Not everyone has the mentality, naus or flair - call it what you will - to start their own business but those who do (if they are honest) will tell you that it requires hard work, dedication and, usually, at least some financial investment for eighteen months to three years before you can begin to see ANY profit on your investment (of time and money).
I am not saying that there is anything wrong with working for an employer (or as a freelance worker). Millions do so because that is what they prefer and feel comfortable with. I am merely saying that this is not normally the path to becoming what is considered 'rich'.

You can earn money online, however i do not think that you can manage to make a living out of it. You can however earn some extra cash to see to some expenses such as the internet and telephone bill. The key is to find something you are good at and that you enjoy doing.

You can earn a living doing online job. In fact I know some freelance friends whose main earnings are from their online job. Making a huge fortune are only for those serious business and online marketers. If you're just a worker, you can still earn a huge fortune though it all depends on how you manage your finances. Because no matter how high your hourly rate is if you spend everything, you'll never have enough.

Yes. Most of the people never made a huge fortune doing online job/work, because most of them have no idea what actually they are doing. They just join many places and thinks to be rich over some months or days, which is not possible. Online work also requires the same amount of dedication and practice and trial/failure. No one will be rich for just using facebook or just chatting.
if someone want to be rich just by online, then dedication is the key and of course needs a superb idea, which only a very few people have. That's why only a very few gets rich and all other either nothing or average.
And online work is far more competitive due to everyone can access them.
Also, what's wrong earning a little extra amount which can be used like mobile bills, Internet bills, etc. in your free time.
