According to my son's g/f, you should only say i love you to the person you're in a relationship with. You shouldn't tell other people that you love them. I looked at my husband and told him that I must be something wrong! I tell all kinds of people that I love them....my friends, my family, my boss, my client,....I just told over 400 people that I love them this past Thursday alone!! I must be an I love you girl!! :D Time is to short not to tell people that you love them!!!! It looks like my son is following my footsteps, in being an I love you boy!! :D

I will say I love you to everyone I know, why? because I love myself as I love my fellowmen. There are so many different kinds of love in this world, family love, brotherly love, romantic love, love for the environment, love for yourself, and love for life most specially to God. There is no limitation to whom you will say I love you but it depends to whom you are saying to and how you mean it. For my girlfriend I usually say it every time we are together, may it be in private or public, because I really mean it and I am not ashamed for everyone to know it, because I love her very much. Whats important is the way you say it and how true it is. So we can say I love you to everyone, there is nothing wrong if you say it always, once or twice as long as it comes from your heart and you really mean it to the person you are telling it.

I don't know what that girl is thinking, she has so much to learn, her sentence proves that. Love should not be limited, it is given freely and better to share it with many people.
Maybe that girl only thinks of love the romantic kind while love actually has many forms.
I disagree with her statement completely.

Now, she refuses to talk to my son. She's acting very childish.

Is she jealous? I don't think saying I love you to relatives and friends is something that should upset anyone. She is really childish. I hope your son is not disturbed by that. He has not done anything wrong.

Just because you say you love someone doesn't mean you love them like you want to be with the marry them etc. When you say you love your parents it's different then when you say i love you to your siblings or your spouse or to a best friend. You can love and say i love you to many people and it can men many different things to everyone. Saying i love you is showing affection and that you care for someone and is nice to hear. I tell my best friend i love her like a sister and my hubby i love him with all my heart and soul. So there is a difference in who you love and how you love them. Yes you can love more than one person at a time and say it to anyone you love for many different reasons in many different ways.

That's what I told her but whether she actually paid attention is another story. I'm hoping something rubbed off on her.

I only say I love you to the people that I do love, as in my children.I would never say I love you to people that I did not have that warm feeling towards.I see that there are lots of people that have said that they love people and yet a few days layer they hate them, lol.

There's no problem to say I Love You to people other then our family as long as it in different meaning, love doesn't mean that you love that person like you love your husband but to show that you appreciate them, well hard to describe but many meaning of I Love You

I totally agree. Just because you say I love you to someone, doesn't mean the same thing when you tell it to someone else. There are so many different layers to I love you. :)

Good Morning Angelwithkids, I must be an I love you girl as well. Growing up I love yous where far and few between leaving me feeling like I didn't matter when I was growing up so I decided to change that with my kids plus I learned few hard lessons along the way meaning having a family pass way without having had the chance to tell them I Love you My kids, family and friends all know that life is a gift that you should tell them you love then every chance you get.My husband and I give each kisses and hugs before he goes to work a long with I love you.

Since I have lost a lot of family members over the past years, I don't want a day to go by that I don't tell someone I love them.

I am not used and comfortable of saying Ilove you, instead of saying that I just show it by action.

According to me i only say to my girlfriend i love you whenever she calls , our conversation start with i love you and ends with i love you. early in the morning when she wakes up she calls me and in the lunch time she calls me and before going to bed she calls me , we have conversation about what she did today and what i did today.
We fight on silly things before the call ends i say i love you.
love is of many types we can say to our friends, family etc.
we say i love you to the person who always wants to be with you and we too feel the same for life time.

There's no wrong with saying I love you to all the people after the conversation and before separation. I often did it too. It is just a show of sympathy and as long as you know where you stand. People who are against are sensitive people and people to watch for even jokes and greetings are meaningful to them.

I love you can mean so many things to different people. I tell my friends that I love them because they're my friends but it's not the same I love you when I tell it to my kids and my husband. In which it's still not the same way I tell it to my family. God did say to love one another!!

I also tell many people that are precious to me that I love them and I can't see why I shouldn't. Should I keep my mouth shut because it's inappropriate or should I only love that one person I'm in relationship with? That would be said not to be able to tell your friends that you love them and loving only one person is sad too. But I guess you shouldn't say it to just anyone either or it will loose it's meaning.

I don't think it could ever loose it's meaning....it just changes. The way you love your parents is not the same way you love your aunts/uncles. It's not the same way you love your best friend and your significant other.

It's okay to say I love you if you really mean it. I say I love you to my friends and to my mom sometimes. I just feel awkward when I say it to my dad or my siblings. I don't know why. It's just not how I was raised. We show our love to each other. And I can feel how much love there is in our family but saying I love you is just not part of my upbringing. But it doesn't mean that I don't love them. And another awkward thing is when I fall for a friend. Saying I love you becomes awkward because I don't mean it in a friendly way anymore. Anyway, I am glad you are the I love you kind of person. I hope I could have that kind of co-worker here now. I'd love to her I'm loved everyday.

I say I love you all the time to friends and family. It might be your son's girlfriend is too young to really look at the emotion and see that it applies to people around you not just someone you have a love interest in.
I think as we get older we appreciate those around us more so it comes more natural to say I Love You.

It is good that we share our feeling when we love somebody there is no reason to hide it as we have just short time to be here, it is good to say I love you and there are many diffrence in Love too . love of wife to husband, love as a mother to children. as a child to parents.. and... so I think your son's g/f has some misunderstanding about that.

Well I don't go say iloveyou to all the people i'm tight with, not even my friends(but i do love and care for them). I only say iloveyou to my family and my hubby but that's ME!!. Some people really meant it loving others but i think it's more like CARE but who knows??? Some are too expressive they say iloveyou to every person they come across. Some are shown implied and mostly are just habit or mere exressions most especially when something is done for you, you automatically mutter "iloveyou" plus very much!
:)
