I have been hearing a lot of career people saying that work must serve as our worship unto the Lord. After all, He is the one giving us the work. I just have been in mind how could this be that my work will serve as a worship to Him. We cannot deny that there are so many difficulties in the workplace. Not all in the premise actually are considerate which sometimes make us also harsh or indifferent. There are a lot of things that cause us demoralized in the corporate world. Is it not hard to serve in the work as if giving worship to the Lord?!

there was a place i worked at where one of the staff close to the owner said she also prays for the company so that we will have continuous work. it was the first time i heard someone do that and well, it makes sense.
i also read a career book where one of the principles is to be true to your profession. i guess that's when you choose between following orders and doing what's ethical and not compromising your integrity/credibility.
i think we can also serve as good examples to our co-workers, being compassionate but fair, avoiding gossip and criticism, doing our best with whatever is assigned to us, and working to live decently, not at the expense of co-workers, our health, our family or for a certain lifestyle.

Very well said my friend. Thanks for the comment. Unfortunately, doing what you have cited is not that easy like avoiding gossip and criticism and others. Sometimes, we get involve to such situation to be able to have companion inside the company. Well, there is hope to change, anyway.

we can't avoid being the subject of gossip and being criticized, but we can avoid spreading it. like when someone tells me something negative about someone or about the company, i just listen in one ear then out the other, or i try to stay objective like asking probable questions and giving probable answers from the other person's or the company's position. because when i have questions about something or hear something that puzzled me, i ask my boss about it and if i'm still not satisfied, i just accept that it's management's prerogative.

I think all the things we do not just our work must serve as worship to our Lord. Even the way we interact with our family, friends, and other people should be in accordance with God's teachings. Yes, indeed it is so hard to live a very clean life because we are just human beings but at least we should try our very best to stay good all the time.

Hello, I just read your post, and decided to answer. Yes it is indeed hard to serve in the workplace. Because you are exposed to all kinds of situations, that may cause you to think or do or be tempted to do things, that are not like the Lord. I work in an environment like that, these days who don't. So you're not alone. I find I have to remind myself that the eyes of the Lord are in every place beholding the evil and the good. Again you're right it is very hard. Love your post. popciclecold

They say there are countless ways to worship the Lord and on the question of how we could do this at work my personal opinion is:
- you are right, there are a lot of trials within the workplace that test our perseverance and character, then we could claim these as crosses to take up and carry as what Jesus has requested,
- Do what is expected of us not because of the compensation but as a labor offering to the Lord.
Happy mylotting.

Yeah, it is really difficult because of various kinds of trials. Thanks for the encouragement..doing what is expected not really for the compensation but for the fact that it serves as offering to Lord.

It is hard to deal with other people in the office as well as wit the work that we may have. However, we jut need to be thankful that we are able to have the means to help our family when there are thousands more unemployed people seeking for a job everyday.

How we conduct our life is worship, not just work. Where can we hide from the Lord? Who are we when no one is looking? That YOU is also worship.
We cannot separate secular life and spirituality. Do we have split personalities? Actually, most of us do, which is why we think only Sunday is worship when actually every moment could be worship.
What's your view anyway.

It is possible that we work and we worship God in doing so. For me, this means that whenever we do our work (no matter how many troubles and how many issues we receive in the workplace) we should think of all the values in us... that we know we should be grounded with our values, that while we work, we should never forget our integrity, that we should never be influenced to do things that would not coincide with our faith and beliefs in God.
So whenever we do our work, whenever we are at the workplace, let us do things that would all the more praise and worship God... and be the light in such a place where most are deviated to doing things against the law of their conscience.
Here is a reference to the bible verse talking about working for God whenever we do things:
Colossians 3:23-24
23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

We can't do nothing if it was their interpretations as long as they do no harm to others then so be it.

Goodevening, i just to share my idea about this matter. In this situation, if in the first place, you are not happy with your work, and it makes you feel bad or it affects your faith then it would be better to seek another job that you really wanted to do and that can make God happy and other people as well. Do not let your work ruin you as a good nature human being. Read the book POwered by HAppy. It is a great book to read, so much things to learn and be happy about.
