If God is both Male and Female Then What is a Goddess? It means God is Male.

This came to my mind. I can't ignore it. Many believers said God is both male and female. Male and female are equal then, what is a Goddess? It means Goddess is a female isn't it? That means God is a male then, why they keep saying that God is both male and female and they keep saying that he does not have any gender? While in fact, the opposite of God is Goddess? Have you notice? and then, they keep ignoring Goddess which is symbol of female diety? They would say that it is a myth while God is true and we should not be worry at all because God is both male and female, but then, the opposite of God is Goddess isn't it? ...and then, Jesus pray to God and through his prayer he called him "Our father" so that means God is a masculine figure so, why they keep saying that God is both male and female in the bible while in fact, the God is obvious a masculine figure? Can you clarify this one? Please? I just want to know the truth.

God is simply a word which is traditionally used to describe a male deity. Jesus grew up in a culture which thought of the One God as essentially male. Other cultures have both male and female deities (and some acknowledge that they are facets of the same being). God made Man "in his own image". So why did he make him with nipples?

@ owlwings... interesting question. Since God made man first, what makes you think that nipples are female glands?

@ IntrovertShy... God is a spirit and God is everything else. God is love and God is light and everything else, since all comes from God.

Oh. Nice thought. He he What I know is that God is only a white light and a feeling of true love but then, people believe that God made Man "in his own image" that is why its confusing and a little bit contradictory in the bible.

'33 crore' means 330 million! I think that these are mostly 'little gods/goddesses' - more what we (in the West) would think of as 'guardian spirits' or 'guardian angels'. Many of them have a specific duty of caring for a particular place or plant, even individual trees. In the Celtic (and many other) religions, particular springs, trees and places are thought to have a spirit which inhabits and looks after the place. One makes offerings to these lesser gods so that they are happy and continue to look after the place and bring fortune to those worshipping there. This custom was replaced in the early (Catholic) Church by the notion of 'patron saints' and still continues today.

I love a person who wants to know the truth as most people want lies. They don't want the truth. Here is the truth: In John 17:17, Jesus in prayer said that God's word is the truth. The truth is found in the Bible. In John 4:24, Jesus said that 'God is a spirit' and spirits are neither male nor female. Since God made man and woman, it means that God has both characteristics and in making male and female, he gave some characteristics to the man and some to the woman but both are made in God's image. In the Bible God is spoken as a male, since the male is the dominant gender in creation and given mostly male characteristics and on occasion female ones. I hope that helps. May you know the truth in all matters and as Jesus said, may the truth make you free. Best regards!

Need a bit of truth?? OK, this is reality. You can not go by the labels of mankind. Few people really understand or know God and that includes religions. That's OK, since what this world is all about is learning and growing. Gender is a parameter of this physical world. God is a Spiritual Being. God has no gender. It gets better. We are also spiritual beings in our true natures. We are trapped in this physical world being attached to our physical bodies. We are eternal but our physical bodies are not. When we are free of our physical bodies, gender will no longer mean anything to us either. In our next physical life after being with God for a time, we could be either male or female depending on the dynamics of the parameters of the lessons we are to learn. I know this might all seem complicated but it is really very simple.

Yes. I need to know the truth. Yes, it all seem a little bit complicated. It is because if God has no gender then, where does Goddess came from? Goddess is a female diety and if there God has no gender at all, why do we have Goddess in some culture and beliefs? If God has no gender at all, we should not have the word Goddess because Goddess means a female diety, but everyone knows that there is indeed an opposite of God which is a Goddess, isn't it? That is why it seems a little bit complicated about God and Goddess like boy and girl, men and women. So, if God has no gender at all, can we call it Goddess too? Since you told me that it is either male or female and there is no gender at all. Anyway, Goddess is the first beliefs though there is a God too from the ancient time before monotheist came which is what we called a God. In a Christian, Islam and other religion, if there is one God, can I refer to it as a Goddess too? I just wondering. Is it not a sin?

I have to say about magnetic or electro static force in this Universe related to this matter. We know magnetic/ electro static forces are great and real. It exist by existence of two opposite natured forces by name of north pole and south pole/ positive charge and negative charge. Man can feel and identify only these opposite forces. So,there is nothing wrong if one feel and identify power God in opposite natured identities. Duel nature of Universe, matter and energy are very important concepts of modern science too.

I am a Hindu. Our religion says that God is neither male nor female nor eunch. He[she] is both and neither of the three genders.God is the Supreme Power that can manifest itself in any form, male, female, animal, tree or a thing[idol].The feminine gender of God is Goddess, but it exists only in our languages that are our creation.Since God is the Supreme Force,it is full of contradictions. He is extremely far from us and at the same time extremely near to us.He is the youngeat and the oldest at the same time.He is colossus and tiny at the same time. We Hindus worship idols. These idols are the symbols of the same Almighty.

Yes. I search on internet and found out that there are lots of Gods and Goddesses. It means you pray all of them? There are so many of them or you got to choose one God or Goddess?

According to our religion there are as many as 330000000 gods and goddesses. We pray all of them, but whoever god or goddess we bow to,our prayers reach the same and the one God.Hinduism says all these gods and goddesses are the multiple forms of Him.Moreover if we pray Ram,it means we are praying Jesus as well, because both Ram and Jesus represent the same truth, the ultimate truth. The question of any particular gender does not arise here. Hope, you have got what I want to convey.

You are correct that the God of they bible is definitely masculine. The only goddess mentioned in the bible was a heathen goddess. The idea that God is both male and female did not come from the bible. The bible does indicate that both male and female are equal in His eyes. In heaven, there will be no marriage or giving in marriage but are as the angels of God in Heaven Matt 22:30.

To me God is a male, and a Goddess would come from other kinds of religious beliefs and not the Bible. So it would all depend on how you view religion.
