The kids didn't have school today for a snow day. I decided to cook them a pizza. I put it on a cookie sheet which I usually do not do, but I didn't want to smell burnt cheese at the bottom of the oven. Instead what do I get? To deal with burnt skin! I was cutting the pizza and the cookie sheet slipped and touched 2 of my fingers. I jerked my hand back and the pizza when flying onto the floor splattering my leg with hot melted cheese and pizza sauce! The skin on my hand looks like it is melted.
My son cleaned up the floor while I tended to my wounds and cooked his own pizza.
What was the last stupid and painful thing you did in the kitchen?

I was making a turkey one time and was dressed up for the Thanksgiving holiday and had a necklace on. I had to baste the turkey so I pulled it part of the way out of the oven but because it was so heavy I didn't want to take it all the way out...I bent over and took my time basting the bird and when I stood back up the necklace had gotten so hot it burned and imprint on my chest! Dang if that didn't hurt!

It was probably when I was slicing a tomato and the knife went through part of my finger. It bled like all get out, but it eventually stopped. Bad thing is, I did the same thing the next night! I remember when I was 13 and my sister was 15 we got into a fight. A pizza had just been delivered and my sister picked up the pizza and threw it at me. I ducked and it hit the wall and slid to the floor. She actually picked it up and ate it. I couldn't bring myself to do that. My parents weren't home, so we didn't get into trouble.

Last Sunday morning when I dropped a bread pudding straight from the oven, onto my left foot. Two toes were burnt quite badly. I still took it with me as I sell baked goods, hot dogs and sodas after Church every week. This is in an effort to raise money for my GF who has cancer. It is still sore. Hope you are healing okay. I do lts of stupid things quite regularly

Not recently. Having working in food service I'm used to burns though. One time my oldest set a pot holder on fire because he lit the wrong burner.
Oh yeah, and last night around midnight I noticed the oven was still on after hubby had made garlic bread at like 5pm!

Oh no, i just hope you are well now lilybug. Well i know this happens many times. I too have done this a while ago. I had put water heating on, for tea and completely forgot about it due to my work online and then i went in the kitchen to look for something and seeing the gas on i still picked up the hot red pan in which the water was evaporated completely. I can't tell how my fingers felt that moment, it was like someone has kept a ice cream on fire. Just melting and the noise of the skin getting burned was pathetic.

A few years ago I had water come up and over the pan and over my chest causing an infection a few days later. I had to take antibiotics orally, and injection, and put cream on too.

Oh, the poor pizza, I mean poor you, lol! Just teasing. Now you made me crave home-baked pizza. :( Anyway, I think I always have this stupid moment in the kitchen every time I take charge of it. If it's not cutting myself with a kitchen, it's breaking the glass jar and splattering the sauce all over.
