when I'm broke! I have about $20 left in my checking account until a week from Friday when my check comes in. So, I was just sitting watching tv wondering how I'm going to make it when my eyes fell on my treadmill! It's practically new and I never use it especially now that I have my trampoline and use that a few times a day and my cardiologist said is better for me. Plus I'm trying to do sort of spring cleaning and getting rid of a lot of things. So, I put an ad on cl selling the treadmill for $40 which will get me through next week. Not an hour later I checked my email and got a response. I called the girl right away and she will be here later today to take the treadmill! I'm so psyched! I have a couple of things that I keep aside just for times like this when I'm broke. This isn't the first time I've done this and came out on top. Do you figure out ways to get by when your barely getting by? Do you have things that you could sell if you needed some fast cash?

Yes, I have a whole tote of items I would like to sell on Ebay, but right now I don't have a car. I borrow my daughters when I need it, about every 2 weeks. The only problem is with her work (she's a manager of 2 stores) she's never positive if the car will be available. So under those circumstances, I never know for sure if I can get to the post office. That presents a problem.
I've never sold on Craigslist as I'm not sure who will be coming to the door. I guess I'm too leary of it.

Maybe if it was summertime I could do that. As far as any maintenance men, they are my landlords and they do not live here. The other guys in this building are jerks so I wouldn't ask them at all.

The time that I get broke almost on a daily basis was when I was still in college. I used to panic and just cry to my parents about it until I got fed up being so helpless. I would rent out or sell my paperback books of my favorite authors. I also have acquired some games on playstation that I can immediately sell at half the price to my schoolmates. I would use the campus bulletin board to post my number and stuff that I am selling. Lastly, I also offer to type and help out other students with their research paper and thesis and they pay me by the hour or by the pages.

Back when I was in college - thirty years ago - I used to babysit and type papers for students - constantly. I also edited their papers - especially those of foreign students who had trouble with English. The money was good, and I was able to buy food and pay my bus fare all week. Word got around that I was a great babysitter, and I ended up working for a few professors with small children when they needed a sitter.

I have been in a lot worser situation before that i could not even buy a single piece of diaper for my little baby and with no work and no milk, that was hard. I promised that those things will never ever happen again and from then on i try to save money and live frugally so that if things really get that bad, i have money to pull out of my pockets. I also have few things that i could sell, thankfully i do not have to sell them yet.LOL!

As hard as I try I can't save a single penny. I got a $40 check at the beginning of the month and put it in my savings account. But of course I had to transfer it to my checking account when it was just about empty. I keep trying and someday I'm going to have some money in that savings account.

I've never sold any of my things for a quick few bucks because I don't have anything I don't use or need worth selling. Yet I remember about twenty five years ago, when I used to work for child protective services, a woman who had 7 kids, including one baby in diapers. She would make a huge pitcher of kool-aid, then make freezer pops from inexpensive dixie cups and popsicle sticks - stacks of them - in her freezer - and the neighborhood kids would be at her door all summer long buying them for a quarter each. It was cheaper than what the ice cream truck guy was selling, plus right in their apartment complex so they didn't have to cross busy streets to go to the store - and she would make enough from this during the week to buy diapers and a few extras for her kids.
I do enough online work without cashing out until I desperately need the money. The people I write for keep my earnings til I ask for them - and then it's a quick transfer to paypal then my bank.

that is good to have something to sell when we need some cash. I actually have nothing to sell except life's experience that I do not think anybody pay for that.

good for you for getting some extra cash. we don't generally have anything that we can make some fast cash on and we have been in the same position as you have been too but we we just make do or go without. usually we have enough food in the house plus we have enough gas in the van so we just stay home and watch tv or watch movies we have gotten from the library.

Thanks to internet. We can have buyers in just a few minutes our hours. I haven't tried selling online yet. I'm glad that I'm seldom short of money. I don't have to sell things. I just borrow money from my sister. We work at the same workplace so I can easily borrow money from her and vice versa. She's usually short of money. LOL. She's single so she buys whatever she wants. So, I always borrow money from her and keep her money so that if she'll be short, I gave her the money. LOL.

we should get rid of the things we no longer use make our home look more tidy but the problem is we tend to bring more stuff in to replace it and sooner or later its like the reset it sits on the side collecting dust
