Begonias are a lovely flower I like to grow. The ones I have are delicate white blossoms on tender, round green leaves. At the moment my begonias are coming back from winter conditions in the safety of the greenhouse. I keep them well watered and they add a nice accent to my hibiscus. They're very easy to care for. I didn't grow my begonias from seed. These came from the clearance rack at a local garden center. But with a little Miracle Gro and careful watering, they've done very well. Everybody should try growing begonias.

Hello Belinda, I love begonias too and used to have the pink ones with reddish leaves. It looked so beautiful and was flourishing very nicely. But unfortunately due to rains, the drainage hole got clogged up and I didn't realize that the the roots were waterlogged. I tried to salvage it by removing it to a new pot immediately but by then damage was already done. I am now thinking of bring it back once again, I want to try the white variety this time.

Hey kalyani, thanks for your lovely response to this discussion on begonias. That's too bad about your red begonias. You'll like the white ones, too, I am sure. Mine have green leaves with red edges and are just returning from winter to a spring freeze this week. Being in a greenhouse, they're mostly safe, but some of the roof panels come off easily in the wind accompanying thunderstorms and weather fronts.

Wow, you have a greenhouse! That is so nice but I know it must be a lot of hard work too. I have a small balcony where I grow my favorite plants in terracotta plants. Right now, I have purple, red, orange, yellow flowers growing. I think that I should tone them down with a little bit of white, I have white begonias in plant nurseries and they really look very lovely. Is it still very cold in your place?

Yes, although I live in the Deep South, we are experiencing a Spring Freeze this week. I'm glad the walls of the greenhouse are holding up well. I think that's what's saving my begonias.

Surprisingly I don't have any begonia's in my garden, not sure why. As you say they are easy to grow and tend. We go to a Garden Centre which is about a 30 minute drive away, I usually take our elderly neighbour, we usually come back with plenty of things to plant between us. Some supermarkets sell plants and flowers and I usually look out for bargain plants, I am not fussy about what plants I get, I just enjoy planting, I find it therapeutic. I will look out for begonias next time I am at the Garden Centre.

Ah wolfie, I wish we lived nearer to one another or that I knew how to ship plants. Two of my white begonias are positively standing up right now and thick enough to divide. If we were able, I would gladly share my begonias with you.
