a homeless, abandoned or lost dalmatian?

I don't know what happened to this dalamatian which is in very poor condition, very thin, dirty, and uncared for. He scavenges for good in garbage cans. Why? What happened to its owner? In our country, dogs like these are rare, they cost much if you buy them and only a few can afford to have dogs like dalmatian, labrador, spitz, etc. However, this particular dalmatian seems to have no owner. It is already an adult and it would be hard to tame it as pet. It does not stay in one place but goes everywhere for food. What a pity. Maybe I am the only one who gets affected by scenes like this. If only....

I can do that if he were in the neighborhood where I live, but this dog is going around the city looking for food.

When the Disney movie 101 Dalmatians came out a few years ago, the breed became very popular. Many people who got them, however, didn't know that about 20% of the dogs are deaf. This sometimes leads peole to believe that the dog is not intelligent. Perhaps that's why this dog was abandoned. There was a time years ago when Dalmatians were adopted by fire companies as mascots. You could check to see if a local firehouse might be interested or look to see if there is a local Dalmatian Rescue organization that would help the dog.

I get very effected by scenes of dogs like this and some times i try to catch the dog. Maybe you could catch the dog and take the dog to a vet and see if the dog is ok and such and get it's shots if needed. Then maybe you can have a pet with this dog.I think this dog needs a home and an owner.

Red, I wish I can do that. I already have three to care for at home and one dog from the neighborhood that also asks for food from me whenever I feed my 3 pet dogs. I don't think I would be able to handle one more. But I really wish I could do that.

The poor thing. That's so sad. Maybe the owners cannot care for him anymore that's why they decided to let it lose and fend for itself. Dalmatians are big breeds and as such they also require lots of food for their diet. Either that or it got lost. Anyway, you can give a call to your city's pound and have it capture before it gets hit by cars or get sick.

Raine, I really want to do that, but you see, I too have a lot of concerns right now and I just can't do what I want to do for those abandoned animals I always see on the streets.

That dog is very trainable, and would be a asset to you, it will know what you did for it and be faithful and loyal to you if you adopt him.

Cox, I really thought about that, but I already have three at home and I am sure they will end up fighting each other with a new adult dog around. Also, I am not familiar with this dog and I have no idea how to help him.

I feel sorrow about these lost or abandoned dogs, but meanwhile fearful of them. I know almost nothing about the breeds of dogs, but it seems that the dog you saw is indeed expensive. Usually we consider dogs our friends, and take this notion natural, so we get sad when seeing these poor dogs. But it is no more than ourselves that create the situation that many dogs wandering about in the streets.

I just hope I can do more. I really feel pity for all these animals who have to fend for themselves.

Does it not have a collar or any identification on him? In our country pets are 'micro-chipped' so when they are lost or worse stolen their owners can be traced. It does seem sad that this dog has no home, someone, somewhere must be missing him, surely?
