We usually fly in planes then travel around a region. This May and June we will be traveling by train all the way from England to Ukraine seeing a few different places in Eastern Europe. I have booked return train tickets from London to Brussels. I also booked the one way train tickets from Brussels to Koln and from Koln to Prague. I have to wait until 60 days before the trip to book the one way train from Prague to Krakow. Once there locally I will book a train to a Polish town close to the border of Ukraine. Then I will be able to explore Ukraine before going to Moldova. I am trying to decide on our route back home. Which is the transport you usually like to go on? How would you get on with a different type of transport?

Hi my friend. I will approve your friendship request. I am really glad you had the opportunities to travel to the UK, Italy, Czech Republic and Germany. In 1997 I went on a safari in Kenya. In 2001 I went to New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. Then in 2011 I traveled to Colombia.

Dear friend, Yes you have travelled so many good countries, as well. Probably more than me. I have only mentioned the European countries. I had the opportunity to travel Asian and African countries, as well. I have visited China & Thailand (2000), UAE (2001), Sri Lanka (2005), DR Congo (2005-2006 one year 2 months for UN mission), Uganda (2006), KSA (2007) etc at different times. I was there in RAF College Cranwell, Lincolnshire, England for 3 months for an advanced training on different types of aircraft and aircraft systems. I stayed there in Trendchard Hall with RAF Officers. It was a nice and enjoyable course for me. Thank you for adding me in your friend list. Have a very nice day.

My son is in a wheelchair. In Vancouver all buses I found were wheelchair accessible. I like to see out of the bus windows. I find buses useful for short distances. I prefer the train for long distances.

I really love cruises, but unfortunately since I live on the Prairies, to get to the ocean, I will have to take a plane and since I do not like being manhandled by the TSA or get cancer from those machines, here I am stuck unless of course, someone is also going and we can take a car to either the West or the East Coast. I would also like to take a train once I wind up where the cruise is taking me, but need a lot of money for all forms of transportation.

The TSA sound like a horrible lot at security. I have taken some trains in America. They were late for 5 hours twice doing my stay. I hope that you go on a very enjoyable cruise ship to some lovely destinations. Yes, it is a shame a cruise can be rather pricey.

Wow, that sound interesting and adventurous! So far, I normally either drive or fly. Have not try the train ride yet. Would love to try one day. I want to live and travel and see the world out there like you. All the best.

Europe is not so big as Asia, America(s), or Africa (from where I recently return), so it's quite OK to use trains and buses for traveling around. Personally, I prefer trains over buses, since trains although are slower, are more comfortable meaning of transport. And being slower, isn't always such a bad thing, as it gives us more time to enjoy scenery. Since you have already make some bookings, maybe it's late to explore some rail passes (such as Eurail), but maybe you should take a look at national rail passes, since almost every country has some form of discounts or rail passes. And if you have time and money, maybe you can consider to take some cruise on Danube river, since it's the heart of Europe, and connecting some of the most beautiful cities of Central Europe.

Looks like a well-planned trip. I hope you have fun and not encounter any glitches. But then even if you guys did, you seemed prepared for it. ANyway, as much as possible, I prefer to travel by car. We control out own time, our own pace, our own stop over and we can bring anything we like. I am not particularly a big fan of flying because I hate the queue when checking in, then the delayed flights and the long wait for flights. Plus we always get colds after flying, probably because of the plane's closed cabin with lots of other people. The kind of traveling that I like the least is through boats. I can't swim, that's why.

Last summer in July I had a trip to Cornwall driving my car from North Somerset. We left soon after dawn and arrived at the Eden Project at opening time. We looked around that fantastic garden until two in the afternoon. Then we had another two hours of driving. On that trip my daughter suffered travel sickness. It is such a shame you usually get a cold after flying on a plane. I know exactly what you mean about airports.

All through my life I have had a love of travelling by train, that is my favourite mode of transport, I am not a good flyer and do not like boats, to me they are floating prisons, yuk! Surrounded by sea everywhere! You can't see anything when you fly or when you sail, but when you travel by train you can see the countryside, landscapes and landmarks. Travelling by train is far more exciting and adventurous especially in a different country!

I have used many different kinds of transport. If I want to visit a place that is far away from my home or if my time is limited I prefer to fly to my destination. When I want to visit some of other European coutnries I prefer to travel by train or by bus because that gives me the chance to enjoy the view from the window. Very long bus journey are not that comfortable so when it is possible I would prefer to travel by train. In 2010 I bought an interrail pass and travelled around in Europe for one month. I had an amazing trip and I visited a lot of interesting places. I have thought about buying another interrail pass in the future. That would give me the chance to visit Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia etc. I also love to travel by ferry. I like to enjoy the view from the ferry and I don't usually get seasick so I am able to enjoy the ferry journey a lot.
