If I have to make some change like in my settings or somthing what do I do? Oh, and I have wireless ofcourse. Can one of you Mylotters that know about such things answer this one for me? I don't think you have to pay in order to connect to a network or wifi if you already have an internet service provider. All you have to do is to insert your password for your wi-fi to be able to connect to the internet. If you don't have the password with you you can contact your internet service provider or you can just ask them to connect you. There is nothing wrong actually with your laptop or your computer all you have to do is just to insert your password for your wi-fi.

it consist of usually 6 digits .it is used in order for you to connect to the internet .i suggest that you call the customer hotline of your internet service provider for you to be able to get the password for your internet connection.you don't have to worry you won't pay a single centavo for that.they will tell you on how to insert it in your system.

good day celticeagle,
honestly i am not too techy though i know a bit on this. as far as i know, you can connect on the hotel or cafes free wifi connection. you just need their username and password to embed on your laptop. through this way, you can connect on the net even not using your own ISP. and i hope i was able to give you a concrete answer that you need.

My laptop is an old one that has a switch. But at home I don't have WiFi; I use a cable from a modem that connects to my cable company. I have used my laptop at several places, hotels and coffee shops, with not problems and no special settings. It seems to me like you should be able to also. It should detect their WiFi signal just like it does yours at home. I assume you have a password to use your at home WiFi. But when traveling the places that have free WiFi probably won't have a password. This makes it easy to use but also means that you really have to protect your computer with good antivirus and not have any important information on your computer.

Well, mine is wireless and I am wondering if there is something I do have to do. I don't use WIFI at home. I have high speed wireless internet here. See this password thing I don't understand. Thanks anyway.

By high speed wireless internet, do you mean you have a WiMAX connection where the internet signal comes to your house without wires and you have a dish to pick up the signal and send it to your modem?
I'm pretty sure that the connection between the modem and your computer would actually be WiFi... my mom has WiMAX service at her house and I connect to her router just like I connect to the one I have at home.
I don't think there's anything special you'll need to connect to a public network. If your computer does wireless at home it should do it anywhere there's a connection available.

If your ISP is one of the big networks, they might have WiFi hotspots where you can connect for free as long as you use a log-in for your account - NOT the WiFi name and password in your home connection but something else that you can identify by calling into their tech support.
I know AT&T have hotspots, not sure with other providers.

Some hotels provide the RJ45 cable to connect to internet. You can ask them for login and password required, if those are needed.
Do check, because some, in fact most will charge.

Hi there, I would like to ask how old is your laptop? Most laptops would have built in wifi router in them. Mine is about 6 years old and it still has and is still working perfectly.
For you to know if you do have wifi available on your laptop, check out your connection settings. You should be able to see a (1) wifi network connection and (2) local area connection. The first one is where your wifi should be seen.
Whenever you need to connect to a wifi, you will just have to connect to available "networks" and get the password from the establishment you are connecting to. you should see that your computer is connected after the password is accepted. =)

Well, sometimes around, they are, totally free wifi networks. Other times they are paid.
But I remember last year in France, in hotel I found a wifi network all free and the hotel gave me the password to be able to navigate with my mobile phone smartfone.
I do not think you need to make changes to your computer. If it is a laptop, already has the antenna for receiving the wifi signal.
However, in this field, in my experience, is low.

Good to hear I don't have to make any changes to my computer. Mine is a Inspiron laptop. Thanks
