I've just seen this film today. It was released in 1974 and it was Steven Spielberg's first feature film directional debut. It's based on a true story about a girl who broke her husband out of low security prison so he can help her to get their son from the new foster parents. They kidnap a police officer along the way and the whole movie is basically a car chase where they are followed by around 200 police cars. While it was pretty close to actual events, the movie was sweetened up in order for audience to sympathize with the criminals. They changed one thing about the ending slightly and I'd prefer if they would've shown exactly how it really ended because it would have a little bit bigger impact in my opinion. For a film that was based on a real events it felt pretty unrealistic at some points but I liked it. It's pretty underrated movie about parents who went against the law to get their child back. Have you seen this movie? What do you think about it and what's your view about the movies that are based on the real events in general?

I haven't seen this one. I like Steven Spielberg. It might be interesting just to see it for that reason. I'm getting tired of movies based on true stories because my girlfriend watches those all the time. They are always about sad events like kids being kidnapped or someone being a victim.

Movies based on actual events, and documentaries are my favorite. I am not sure if I saw this movie or not, but from your description of it I would really want to see it. Your description of the movie is worth wanting to see. I recently watched the staircase, Amazing Graceand The song of Bernadette all worth watching again and again. Thank you for your review of the sugarland express and pointing out that this is Steven Spielbergs directorial debut.
