a few days ago, my cellphone's led screen got busted. the backlight no longer works until eventually the screen turned totally black. my mobile phone is already dead. my mom told me to have it repaired but i've decided to just buy a new one. my phone is more than 4 years old i i kind of expected to have some problems with it anytime soon. i'm just happy it died a natural death than being lost or stolen from me. i'm now looking for a new phone. i'm not really after the newest model. as long as it can text and call and looks presentable, it's fine with me. i would love it to have access to facebook also.

Sorry to hear that.. I think you are better off buying anew one. As many times it cost as much to have a cell phone repaired. Good luck to you.

Also a new one should have some kind of gurantee Id think as well.

that's also my consideration. since it's more than 4 years old, if i get it repaired, i have no guarantee that it will have problems in the future.

It is much better to buy a new phone than have it repaired. There are a lot of inexpensive phones that has features that you would really need. Like Cherry mobile Edge. It only costs less than 7k pesos and you can be able to access Facebook and search through the internet. It looks similar to Samsung SIII mini.

I am not sure about how sturdy the gadget is, but if it had bad reviews, I don't think that they would still be in the market and be developing new cellphone models. I am sure it is one of the other things that we should be proud of because of the Filipino's ingenuity in trying to make a cellphone at par with other cellphones in the market.

Smart phone - A smart phone for text and call communication, and for online messaging.
And many other features it can offer to make life more convenient, and
transactions faster
Wow! That's old for a phone. Usually my phone doesn't last that long. It's either I broke it, or I lost it. Sometimes, I just have the opportunity to buy new phone, and make the other one not usable or I hand them over to my mom or to other family members. I am on the same page as you. I want to have a traditional cellphone (simple smartphone) for texting and calling. Then, have another smartphone(iPhone preferrably) for online communication, and other features. So I am good with two phones--a simple one and the more expensive, up-to-date phone.

Wow, more than 4 years! No wonder your cellphone starts acting up like that, it is just about ready to retire. There's lots of cellphone models now that will just suit your needs just fine. Although I love my smartphones, I do miss my old flip-top cellphones.

nursefrai: i'm sorry i just run out of words to say about its condition. this phone i'm talking about is the first phone i bought with my own money so it really is sentimental for me.

That phone served you for 4 years, that is long enough so its time to go for the new one. And sometimes repairing a phone costs as such that you think it would have been better if I had switched to the new one. I know you don't want any high end specifications mobile but there are various type of phones available in the market so select one which suits your needs.

yes, i've really considered that. if i have it repaired, there is no assurance that there will be no problems with it anymore. so buying a new one would be the best option.

Oh wow! Four years old? Really? I've never had. A phone that lasted that long. My longest was around 3 years lol, but then its a hand me down so. Haha. I'm not really sure how long. Its cool that you got a phone that lasted that long. I agree about getting a new one instead. Get an android phone!!

well, i'm not really a gadget freak. i'm not into the latest model of mobile phones. as long as it suits my needs, i'm okay with it.

Wow, you sure know how to take care of a phone, but it is more fulfilling to feel a new phone in your hand. I never had a phone that wasnt a hand me down so if i got my own new phone, I'd probably be so excited. Unless of course you'd like to brag on how long you've had your current phone, thats okay too.

First of all let me say I am very sorry for your loss.I will be having this same hunt going on myself before very long. My phone decides when it wants to ring or go to voice mail these days. I am never sure what it is going to do.But it was the kind of phone I wanted and my son -in-law gave it to me for my birthday a couple of years ago. I wish you well on your hunt and hope you find just what you are looking for in a phone. Myself I wouldn't mind having an Droid Razr M , my son and his wife each have one and they have been good phones for them.

I am so sorry to hear about your phone dying out. I agree with you that you preferred your phone to just give up at least over time you know about this already and will be prepared for buying a new one instead of it being stolen or lost. I'd say that you can go look for good phones and cheaper ones. There are a lot of phones you can actually choose from nowadays that can do the basic functions you want and its sure to be great. Goodluck and keep us posted as to what you have bought as a replacement.

hmmm. sound like some of my requirements for a cell phone. i have one more, though. i must have an unlimited minutes plan. that is surely a must.
• Philippines
25 Feb 13
sorry but what unlimited minutes plan? is that for calling? well, it's not really a phone feature. you have to avail of i. though i would also love it.

I would buy a new phone beings it is 4 years old. It doesn't seem like it is worth your time and money to get it fixed. i have the samsung galaxy S3, and i just love it. I even use it for posting in here, which it works great for that. I am enjoying my phone a lot, and I am glad that i decided to buy it. It has lots of features and I haven't used them all, but I have used quite a few of them. If there is a certain phone you are looking for, then I would watch reviews on it to see if it is the right phone for you. take care!

good to hear that your phone last for 4 yrs.since mine always less than 2 years. haha i oftentimes get my phone wet or dropped it most of the time. Replacing your phone will be the best solution it might cost you much than replacing your phone. Enjoy!

my nephew sometimes borrow it from me and would drop it. i think the phone is really sturdy and durable that's why it lasted that long.
