Adopting a disabled dog?

I was going through links and found a great dane that is a puppy and is blind plus deaf. He is just so cute, and I am debating about adopting him. I find dogs that are the runt or are disabled tend to be more nurturing, and dosile in personalities. A lot of people wont give the animals a chance and will either pass over them, or give them away, http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/24151052

Do you mean adopting him financially or adopting him..as in..bringing him home? He's very cute, I must say and I don't normally 'go' for dogs. Henry looks oh, so special though and I would probably fall in love with him after meeting him for about 5 seconds!

He's a big dog, do you have room for him?

They will grow to about 100 - 200 pounds full grown. I am use to large breed dogs, grew up with them.

That would be great for you,, as I know youd give him a great home. You need to get together with someone and open a shelter there. I know youd do well with something like that. People could bring pets to you, to pet set.. and know they will be taken care of.

I would love the experience witha disabled dog, and he would get a good home. Everyone always laughs and says you get the rejects, because I end up with all the animals noone wants.

I like disabled pets and disabled people. Such a dog would need extra love and care. He is likely to have a sweet personality. I give a chance to the disabled ones. I would not give away a disabled pet. My little boy is disabled and he is a lovely person. I hope you are able to adopt the disabled puppy. Good luck.

He's adorable but are you sure you want to do this now? Wouldn't you rather move first? You work so much I'm wondering who would take care of him when you're gone? I have to say though, Henry sure is tempting, lol!

Ohhhhh, ok, I didn't know you could bring him with you..that's awesome. And your dad will babysit, that's great too. Henry is just plain adorable and you're correct, not many would adopt him at all. I know you would love him to pieces.

Many of my jobs I can bring him with me, but my Dad will babysit. He babysits my brother dogs for hours. He is so cute, and many would refuse him.

If this is something that you want to do, then you should adopt him/her. If you have to think about it twice, then maybe you shouldn't adopt the dog, but if this is something that you really and truly want to do then you should. I love animals, and if I had the space I would love to adopt one, and I believe that you should adopt this dog, because in the end you will be glad that you did.

You would think someone would adopt a disabled dog. It's just like people having a disabled child and keeping it or adopting a disabled child. All animals and humans need love and care weather disable dor not. I think if i saw a disabled dog id adopt it because it needs love and care just like any other. Some need even more care because they are disabled and it's not their fault they are this way. Just think if it was you or your pet that was disabled how would you feel.

I've never personally had a disabled dog or any other disabled pet either simply because of the fact that our family does live a very busy life and I don't know that we would be able to adequately care for a pet that had special needs. However, that doesn't mean that I have anything against a disabled animal. I remember growing up that my dad's boss had a deaf dalmation and she was the sweetest dog. The only reason that I would question you adopting this deaf/blind dog would be that the other pets that you have might scare him from time to time.

Awe he is so amazing and inspiring to be so live and active under those unfortunate conditions. Bless him very much. You are so thoughtful and kind to give this wonderful dog a chance I am sure he will be the happiest he can be if you decide to adopt him. Bless your heart. Also screw those irresponsible jerks who abandon and mistreat their pets....

He's so cute! I would love to get a dog like that and be able to help it out. I think there is another great dane or some kind of dog that is blind and maybe deaf too and the other dog basically acts as the seeing eye dog and they play and go with each other everywhere. One day I'd love to do something like that and help out a disabled animal

why not? He has a life... so adopt him... I just wondering what's the sign language for barking? ARe you going to enroll him to a barking sign language school? OMG, he is blind... then you need to have him trained to read braille barking too. so he will need cane for dogs. Just joking here. but that's interesting. I wonder if he is healthy if not.. maybe he can just put into sleep. interesting to take care of such special dogs. really... amazing

That's so nice of you to adopt a dog and not just an ordinary dog but an impaired one. I also want to adopt a dog but I do not really have enough space for him. I just rent a small room with my husband and even if I do have space for him, no one will take care of him. My husband and I are both working and I personally do not want to leave the dog inside a cage especially if the dog is impaired. So I salute you buddy for being a good example to everyone.

Wow what a noble deed. I hope people like you continue to grow in number. I love dogs, too I actually have one. Whenever I get home, my dog would make sweet gestures though she misses me. But I praise you for adopting one and I agree some people would consider them literally animals. whom they'd kick, hurt or abandon. Some even eat them. Gosh! I'm happy to know that there are still who truly care for animals : God Bless.. :)

Adopting a dog should not hinder about the dog's disabilities. I've seen animals with disabilities who were trained to do tricks and the owners got money because of this animals. You should adopt it as long as it has a complete shot of rabies xP
