I Thought Today Is A Holiday

Hi airasheila! Yes because we were used to think of it as non-working holiday. However, the government change it to observance since 2009. Yeah its not a holiday today for the working Filipino. Its a regular day with lots of people on the street "celebrating" the day and a lot of traffic re routes, buses passing through roads they have never really passed through on a regular day.

During the previous years, this date was being declared as non-working holiday in our country. Actually, I don't remember about this date last Friday until the staff from the nearby office dropped in and told us the it is a holiday today. It's a sad thing that we are all wrong. Hi pahak! Actually, when it comes to work, I also bring work at home. Why? One of the main reasons is that we are assigned in a field office and we don't have printer and computer at the office. Imagine that? So whenever we have reports to be submitted, I need to bring it at home and use my own printer. I am not complaining on this because from time to time, we are also receiving some benefits so I was able to buy these tings. It is also good that I return some of the favor to the government. My mother is also a teacher and yes most of the time she brings her work at home. A salute to the teachers! Have a great day!

This date is important to us Filipinos because this was the day when we were freed from the dictatorship. Well, it was just okay for me if I still have to work. It was just that the previous years, this day was considered as non-working holiday.
