I think only a few mylotter can relate to my topic.
I can say that I am aging gracefully. Not that I am trying to brag, but because it’s what I feel.
When I reached my 40’s many years ago I was frantic because I don’t want to have the look of an aging woman. Thus, I see to it that I moisturized my face , I exercise , take vitamin supplements and live simply but happily. Most of all i laughed a lot.
But despite that, I still have noticed some few crow’s fee on my eyes and my eye bags are here to remind me that I am now older and will be older .
However, I learned to love every stage of my life. Maybe because I have my husband with me to grow old with, and who loves me despite my aging looks.
Besides, my friends and officemates don’t make me feel old at all.

I hear you. Now I have reached the 40s I now tend to think that age is just a number and the amount of "laughter" lines I call them on my face shows that I have lived a happy and fulfilling life. You can't stop the aging process. As you say, as long as you have loving family and friends around you who love you for who you are, then what's the problem!! My Dad is coming up 80 years of age and he is still working!! He says it keeps him young and he looks forward to going to work. He is a very young looking nearly 80 year and truth be told, he is probably fitter than me! I just hope the good genes run in the family!! Thumbs up to those laughter lines!

Usually men tend to look younger than their age than women. I just wonder why?
It's good to hear that at 80 your father is still working and maybe even fitter than you. Indeed he may have a good gene and that will surely be in you too.
Unluckily, my father who is 78 year old now, is already frail and looks his age. That's because he is diabetic. But i am proud to say that he has it since he was more than 60 but until now he is still up and alive. His friends who like him are diabetics are all gone now even those younger than him.

Making your Dad feel so wanted by you and the rest of the family to is the greatest motivation for him to always stay fit and healthy, thus live longer.
That's what we always do to our parents so they will be motivated to be healthy always.

My father is actually a diabetic too. I think he must have his pretty much under control and I know there are certainly different grades to it. I must admit I think being able to work part-time has really helped him. It is sad your father is losing his friends but great he is still with you and hopefully will be for some time to come. I only have my Dad left as my Mum passed away over 8 years ago now so I am really hoping he keeps on hanging on in there.

People with oily skin don't seem to get wrinkles like those of us with dry skin. It also helps to live where the air isn't so dry. I have had to live in deserts during most of my life while getting older so I have more wrinkles than my sisters who have lived in humid areas. Also, hormones play a big part. I read where if you get wrinkles mostly around your mouth that is because the person is low on hormones. That could be a big part of my problem.

Yes, i read that people with oily face doesn't get wrinkled more. And the climate in deed plays a big part as well as the genes.
I think in our family, starting with my mother , we have a gene that doesn't grow old quickly as well as we don't get so fat. I noticed that we all age gracefully.

Well, all of us were skinny in our childhood too. Now that everybody is married and with kids, we have grown some flesh which others tags as sexy, because it is in our family also that we have rounded butts.

We (9) of us all started out skinny but most have ended up in old age rather plumb. Just one brother has stayed thin.

Hello D!
I still have 5 years to go before I reach 40 but I know it won't be that long. Time flies too fast. But i'm not scared. I am aging backwards hahaha! My students from 5 years ago told me i look better and better and they were asking me what's my secret.
I guess you and I know what the secret is and it's no secret at all!
Cheers to getting old!

I agree witth you.Nobody can stop the advance of old age. What is most important is that we should refuse to give in to old age and have a good mentality. In fact, the more you fear aging, the more quickly you age .We all know that worry would line your face and care killed a cat.

Nobody can stop the aging process. But we can do some natural ways to retard it.
We don't have to fear aging, but learn how to cope up with it. Stay happy and positive always, so we can age gracefully.

Well, for me age are the number of years I'm alive. My heart and mind didn't feel that old. I'm still young at heart!

Exactly, it's the number of years you are a live.
Getting old is inevitable. It's up to us if we will make it a graceful one or succumb to what makes one feel old at the earliest. There are a lot of factors that can make one old. No. 1 is stress, which can also kill one.
So choose to be always young at heart, so you will age gracefully and longer.

I'm a 56 year old women and if you were to see me you wouldn't believe I was that age. Also not bragging, I may look anywhere from 35 to 40 as people have told me. I take care of myself too and moisturize myself. I also keep busy all the time to keep the body moving. Doing yard work and just making sure I live a good happy long life with my husband. I'm for the most part a happy person with a good sense of humor so that will hopefully take me far for the rest of my days. I believe that is the key to life being happy and laughing alot.

Amazing lelin! I must agree totally , that the primary thing to do to age gracefully and makes one look younger than actual age, is being happy and having a good sense of humor.

Dina
We age gracefully, look is not important i think, but staying with one's spouse, kids, grand kids makes one happy and contented both physically and mentally , age will leave its impression on your body, seeing a person one can certaily guess his/her real age though one may wear heavy make up to hide it, here when one joins a new job, he/she has to submit a 'medical certificate' from govenment doctor, it has two columns
Age of the person
He/she looks xxxxxxxxxx years old.
You are blessed to have a job, a daughter who will become a doctor soon
And a loving caring husband.
What more you need
Blessings

Yes, professor, as long as we are with the family and still physically and mentally healthy, we can say that we are aging gracefully, because we are happy.
Though i have to refute something that you said , that heavy make-up can hide one's age, it's the other way around professor. When one ages, "less is more" meaning you look younger & beautiful with lesser make-up/
Indeed i am blessed because of my loving family, that's why i am aging gracefully, just like you professor.

Wow, you are one blessed woman! I wish I also am surrounded with people like you have around you, it's really not difficult to age gracefully in that situation. I guess it's a bit challenge for me to do it. I am now thinking of taking care of my body and health because I'm already 32, and now is the best time to start.

Aw! I hate using sunblock, they're so sticky my face gets oilier. I only moisturize at night, and drinks lots of water. I think I should look for a good one that suits me. Oh, now I'm worried.
@SIMPLYD (90721)

Oh yes you should because it helps in blocking freckles from forming because of the exposure to sunlight.
I have a freckle or two that doesn't go away anymore, because i didn't use sunblock before.

Indeed i am happy because the people around me treats me like i am as young as them, 25 and above.
Yes, you should start early, so you can retard aging processes.
Always wear sunblock. Me, i only started using sunblock at age 47. How i wished i could have known about it earlier !
But as they say, "better late than never".

Some people age so fast, others do not age so fast. I wonder what could be the reasons. When I am in my middle 20's I just look like in my 20's. I knew I am always like 5 years younger my real age because I am small so no one would guess it right. Just be healthy and always feel young and you can hide your real age.

Yes, small people don't look their real age. They always look younger than their real age.
I don't mind being asked of what my real age is. As long as when one does it, we are alone by ourselves, not for everybody to hear .
And when i tell them their age, they are surprised and tells me quickly, that i am younger than my real age.

I can say that my mom also aged gracefully. I remember asking her if she wants her lines removed. By the way, she's already 70. And she said no. She told me that it's part of life and we have to accept that we are not young forever. Despite her age, she's very active in religious groups and even go camping with my elder sister. She also exercises regularly with my Dad and I find them cute walking together every morning.

Wow, really she's 70 and yet she goes camping with your elder sister! That's amazing.
It's really nice to see people aging gracefully. Specially when you think that they are this young and be surprised when they tell you their real old age.
What's more nicer with your mother is she get to exercise regularly with you Dad.

Everyone will experience the aged of life, everyone will pass through it. The good thing when your aging, you are experiencing how time flies; your age doesnt look what you are when you laugh a lot. Age is just a number , the response to age is when you experience the good side of life, when things goes with the Grace of God, when life is working perfectly with your family and friends. When you enjoy how prosper you are and prepared ,coz when you reach the age when God keep you in eternal life, you are more beautiful in his radiant glory to offer you in our Heavenly kingdom. ENJOY LIFE WHILE IT LAST.

Yes, as we age we should love every minute of it. And while we are aging we should grow closer to God, so when our final time is up, we will be beautiful for HIM.
