my sister who is a destist once told me that when a child has already complete teeth should start to have them cleaned at least twice a year. allof my kids started tohave their teeth cleaned when they were around 3 years old.

I wonder whether three years old children can co-operate with the dentists when they are having the dental cleaning.

Yes, for those with good dental hygiene a cleaning every six months is advised. I think that as soon as they have some teeth they should be seen and then the dentist will advise the parents from there on. I was never taught to brush so my teeth are nearly all gone now. I am the first to tell a person they need to take care of their teeth.

It is important to teach the children to take good care of their teeth.

Yes! Very important. And if you aren't sure ask your dentist.

The dental health community here states that every person, from childhood to adulthood should see a dentist every six months.

Primary to high school students here receive preventative dental treatment and cleaning once a year through government funded program. So, there is no reason for any kid who goes to school not to have the basic dental cleaning regularly. As you said, dental cleaning is important for dental health and it is a vital preventative measure to take to avoid more serious dental problems.

Here it is not that ideal. It seems it just depends on the parents.

I think when your son is one year old, he can be taken to dentist. I know we must get the teeth cleaned for every once in six months. So you can ensure your son to go to the dentist regularly so he has healthy teeth.

Perhaps it is too difficult for such a little child to co-operate with the dentist.

As soon as first pair appears 12-16 months you should start cleaning the teeth of a baby. You can use the soft and clean cloth of soft tooth brush. You can also take them to the dentist as soon as they get the first teeth.

I didn't mean brush the teeth, I meant going to have the dental cleaning by the dentist.

Yes I have read many articles saying that you can start cleaning at 12 months old. I do have a nephew at that age and my sister always clean his teeth using soft clean cloth. But children tends to have their first teeth series broke easily I still does not know what is the reason to that. But to make sure as you had plan to do a dentist will surely know what best to do since it's their expertise.

The best advice would actually come from your dentist, they would know exactly when your child should start dental cleaning, they are, after all the experts!

In fact on last Sunday I brought my son to see the dentist and she said it was OK for him to start to have the dental cleaning. But I just want to hear more ideas because here it seems no children have the dental cleaning yet. It is supposed for the adults only.

It's possible that you might take him in for a 'dental check-up,' and your dentist should tell you when to have him come in again.

I would assume younger is better. I know many who wait until they start school, but the child doesn't have this routine, then flips out, or panics.

I just wonder how young is better for them. As I am afraid it is difficult for a child to co-operate with the dentist.
