I've been in my new house for a few weeks now and it still doesn't feel like home. Can't afford to do all the changes I want right away so not sure what to do to make it more my home for the time being.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well i can understand your situation very well and i know u must not be feeling good in your new house and that is pretty obvious. But i think u have to accept the reality and if u start thinking the same every time then u wont be feeling good and that would make u feel uncomfortable. Initially this will happen. What say?

give it some time. for now, know that it is your space and no one can take it away from you. know that you deserve it and that all your hard work has paid off. put up some pictures and a few pieces around the house first. set up messages with the magnets on the frige. do little things like that to help personalize as much as possible until you get things to where you want to be. it takes time and is a work in progress. remember, you never stop building your home. so, begin to starting thinking of it like your home right from the start. congrats! to you. i wish i could send you a house warming gift. in the mean time, i will be chanting that you and your family have a safe, happy, healthy, prosperous home and new year!

I do believe that it is important that we figure out what things that we are able to do in order to make a new house a home. Yes, there are probably a lot of things that you would like to be able to do to your house so that it really does feel like home, but many of those things are things that will take time. For me, I have found that the most important thing that I could do when I moved to transform my new house into my new home was to include little personal accents, like plenty of family pictures and things like that which are important to me.

Moving into a new home is a different feeling altogether. If you don't feel like home yet, keep the pictures and some memories of your loved ones around you to comfort yourself. It always takes time to adapt to a new place. Relax, things would be fine.

It takes time to make your house a home as well as memories, feeling comfortable and probably friends will help feel like home. Perhaps if you can invite some friends.

Don't worry, everything will come into its places once you're finally settled. Afterall, you just got there. Give it time, do not stress out the small stuff, as they say. I know how its like to move and I almost drive myself to exhaustion because I want everything to where I wanted them to be. Enjoy your new place. Take or make the changes one step at a time.

Maybe you missed the old house you have before that's why you feel there's something missing from your new house and somewhat doesn't feel like home. But eventually you may feel it your home as time goes by and you are used to the environment being at your new home.
