The Oscars are over and we are now into a new year with new movies. There were so many good movies last year that I truly loved. One of my favorites was Django Unchained because it had drama, comedy, love and plenty of bloodshed with a great musical score in the background. What was your favorite movie of 2012 and why? Also what is your all time favorite movie that you can watch over and over and why? My favorite would have to be between The Sound of Music and West Side Story. The sound of music because I love the music the love story between a nun and an officer and West Side Story because of the love story between two people with different backrounds and of course the music.

I really like the movie Ted. It made me cry badly. It is a very touching but funny movie. Besides it, I like Argo which is one of the winners from the Oscars. It is impressive because this movie is based on a true story and this is why it made me feel heart-beating when I watched it. This is a great movie. In fact I expected that this movie can win more awards.

Argo was good especially because it was based on true events. However, Lincoln also based on true events was far more entertaining due to Daniel Day Lewis's performance. I love it and will watch it again real soon.

For 2012, my favorite movies were Les Miserables and Cloud Atlas, then Looper, Silver Lining's Playbook and Django Unchained. The Hobbit was cool too. I thought The Town of Ben Affleck was better than Argo, and that people overrate some movies more than they should just because they were true stories. I'm very interested in seeing Lincoln, Zero Dark Thirty and The Impossible. In the Animation category I'm more interested in seeing Wreck It Ralph than Brave.

Les Miserable was very good if you like musical for people who don't they wouldn't like it at all. I loved it. As for Silver Lining Playback it was an ok movie. Nothing I thought that it deserved Oscar. I like Jennifer Lawrence but didn't think it was worthy of an Oscar. I thought that should have went to Naomi Watts for "The Impossible" because that was Oscar worthy performance. If you didn't get to see it try to if you can.

I liked Life of Pi also even though it was slow going in the beginning. I'm glad I stayed with it.

To me Argo was probably the best movie I've seen this year. it had an interesting story and its crazy that it really happened. other than that i really liked Flight. Denzel did an awesome job, as usual.

I too saw both and they were both good movies. I just think that Lincoln should have won for best picture.

Out of the 2012 movies I've seen that received Oscar nominations Zero Dark Thirty and Flight were both very good. I really want to see Lincoln, Argo and Django Unchained but I still haven't gotten around to them. My daughter and granddaughter saw Life of Pi and really liked it but I didn't get a chance to go. I also saw Battleship and Promised Land and liked them both but neither were nominated for any awards. Gosh, I don't think I could possibly pick just one or two movies as my all-time favorites but both of your choices were excellent. I'm 60 and I've seen a lot of movies in my lifetime so I'd probably have to go with a top 50 or so...lol! Annie

I understand because I'm 56 and also have seen alot of movies in my day.I saw almost all of the movies up for Best picture and they were all so good. Life of Pi was also an excellent movie. It was a bit slow in the beginning but you have to give it time and then it really picks up. Beautiful scenery and what a story.

I have to say that for the recent past years good movies are simply a handful only. I couldn't understand how some films could actually be produced and I just felt that they were wasting resources and money like James Bond - where I find David Craig boring and rather stone faced (no offense to fans of the film and the star). So, it came as no surprise when I simply disagree with the Academy's nominated and awarded movies like Argo. I just can't stand that show. Lincoln is nice considering the star studded casts and storyline - my choice 101% over Argo for Best Film. Producer Steven Spielberg always have a knack of selecting good casts for his films and I have never missed any of his films. Like Schindler's List, War Horse, Saving Private Ryan and many more - Lincoln is another really good indeed - very memorable in every department of a good movie.

I saw both movies and I agree I would have definitely picked "Lincoln" over "Argo" for best picture. I believe it all has to do with politics in Hollywood and how they come to their decisions. Watching "Lincoln" I felt I was watching the real Lincoln being President. They did a great job in casting and it was just done so well. It actually brought me to tears a few times because it felt so real and I like I was watching a piece of History unfold before my eyes.

I have seen lots of good pictures in my life and there are many ones that I have seen several times. But I would not be able to make a list of the ones I like best. I would like to see some of the new movies at the cinema. Of all of them, the one i`d most like to see is Lincoln.

I loved Lincoln, in fact I want to see it again. I found all of the best pictures nominated for Oscar this year were so good. The only one I didn't see was "Amour"

2012 favorite movie is The life of Pi. I really liked that there was some philosophy in the movie. At the end of it I didn't know what was the real story. I liked the tiger story best and just like the author I choose the story with God in it. For all time movies I would say Gone with the wind and Breakfast at Tiffany's

Yes, Life of Pi was so good. When I went online to do research the tiger story was the real story. Pi added the change because the journalist didn't believe the tiger story. I totally forgot about "Gone with the Wind" that too was a great movie.
