Should never walk into antique stores

Antique stores are my weakness and I really need to learn to never go into them. I just spent 700 dollars today which I really shouldn't have. What kind of store is your weakness.

That's my weakness too! Or the auction-in January, we won a LOT more than we were expecting; I had only wanted this super-rare set of china (which I did!), but the bidders weren't there I guess. Our bill came to $262 and change; if we hadn't been paid 3x that month, we'd have been unable to pay for our car. And the last time we were at the antiques store, we bought a lot of little things that came to over $125. Our probably is that we both LOVE going to these places, but cannot just go and window shop there, like we can at Walmart (well, I could, but not my boyfriend). So, what did you get for $700?

Mmmmmmmm.....sounds nice! Is that the time period that you collect? I've always liked primitives (my first love, but they can be frightfully expensive) and art deco through mid-century. I like to mix it up; my boyfriend used to like the store-made country, but he's had his eyes opened now.

Mine are craft stores. I love working on crafts especially making jewelry and every time I see beads I have to have them. Randy hates going into craft stores with me, but he sends my brother in with me so I do not overspend. I have a feeling once I learn to sew that my other weakness will be fabric. I have such a small space and cannot really find a place to keep my fabric.

Hi, I wonder what you grabbed with such a big amount. I was thinking you mistyped USD700 instead of 70. Still it is not a cheap one you've got there. On second thought, take comfort in the fact that it could command a higher price given a few more years, perhaps double or triple at its present value. Some people spend the same amount on electronic gadgets whose price can go down overnight and become useless in a few year's time. On the contrary, antiques is always there to stay, standing the test of time, never losing their novelty as time goes by. I am a techno freak but I am careful to spend money on things that are useful and endures for some time, like having an accurate watch that shall keep time for me and for generations to come, jewelries that never fade and accumulate value as they age, things like that.

Purse shops and shoe stores. They are my ultimate weakness and instant material motivation. Good thing I have control or else... My latest purse shopping spree was 2 weeks ago at the Mall of America. I bought this branded purse that I have been wanting for so long for $400. My husband says it's okay as I do not shop frequently and it is to be my advance valentine's gift. Oh well...

i also love antique stores but find them usually pretty expensive and i just don't have the money to spend like that. all though i did go last fall and i bought a sap bucket which was only about $8 and i actually bought it to put evergreen boughs in it at Christmas time but am presently using it for magazines which also seems to work. i also love to go to thrift stores because you never know what you find. just a few weeks ago, i went to one and found a metal loom in pieces for a dollar. most people wouldn't know what it was but because i had another one with the same color metal (just a different shape. the one i had previously was an octagon shape but the new one i bought was square) and it only cost a dollar. at Christmas time, i found the whole set of books in the Narnia series in pretty good shape for $10 (to buy them brand new they cost upwards of $80!) and i gave them to my daughter for Christmas! what did you buy at the antique store?

I don't have that much money to be able to buy a lot of antiques but if I did I would probably have a weakness similar to yours. I do enjoy antiques and classic and vintage looking things like furniture and different household items. My biggest weakness right now though would be thrift stores and grocery stores. In thrift stores I always end up buying a bunch of different books and videos and kitchen appliances that happen to be there. My girlfriend also likes to buy clothes and we buy other random stuff too that looks cool.

I don't find myself every really wanting to go into one, but sometimes I see really neat things through the windows I would love to have but wouldn't dare with having kids in the house.

I do booths at craft shows, and I'm always looking for decorations for my display. Luckily, these things don't cost much. One time I was driving by a dollar store on the way to a show, and I saw a beautiful garland one one of their outside displays. After the show I stopped by and bought it. That was about 10 years ago. I still have the garland and it is still beautiful.
