I dont mind having Filipino versions of foreign gameshows, as they diversify out local television but why the heck Celebrities are the majority of players these gameshows have as contestants. on their country of origin, These gameshows have celebrities once in a blue moon, but in our country's case, ordinary people plays once in a blue moon. The ordinary people needs the cash prizes more, but no Tv networks rather make the celebrities play in these gameshows.

I think the producers of those shows care about the rating so much rather than the people who want to join and need the money. If celebrities will play the game, I think the higher the rating would be since most Filipinos love watching their favorite celebrities on tv a lot. That's just my guess.

Its not fun anymore,I think celebs playing causes more hype if they only do it once in a while but in our country its the norm. Its not fun watching them because they were too image conscious.

Maybe most people are enjoying it, because if they don't I'm sure those producers will stop running the show anyway. They just base on the ratings and not just with the opinion of one person.

there are gameshows though that does well without relying to star power.

Usually, they do that at the initial episodes of the gameshows. Then, after some episodes, they will now let ordinary contestants play.
I think, it's one way of showing how the game is played and how to attract more viewers since it's a new show.

That's the formula but it's a celebrity-themed show so basically, you get celebrities. After a few viewings,ti's boring for me. At this time, it's not considered new anymore.

I think celebrities playing gets more hype if its something they will do once in a while, not everyday. if our country's economy will rise, celebrities will have higher talent fee and if that happen, I hope gameshows will now prioritize regular people.

hi there capt. albert!
for a new game show, i completely understand if they have celebrity contestants. this increases viewership in the show which the game show might not have yet since it is starting only. plus, celebrities usually play for a charity or someone close to them who is in dire need of financial assistance. it is seldom that we see celebrities play for themselves.
established game shows should have ordinary folk playing in these shows though. the people already know how the game is played so it will be very nice if the everyday man is given the chance to win big.
cheers and happy mylotting!!!

hi capt.
my guess is that these established game shows aren't garnering enough viewers to score high in the ratings department, hence they resort to having celebrity contestants. the producers of the show must think that having celebrity contestants will boost their ratings.
about the charities being helped by celebrity contestants, perhaps this is their own way so that the money that they donate do not come directly from their own pockets. lol!
some of these celebrities can be cheapskates and tightwads you know...

I may understand if its a new show but the TV networks also do this to gameshows that has been on air for years. I dont find it fun when celebs play because they were not emotionally driven as they play. also rather than play for charity, they should just help charities on their own, they dont need to join a gameshow to help charities. In western countries, celebrities rarely play because they have a much more expensive talent fee. our celebs have cheaper talent fees.

Well they are after the ratings so they invite celebrities to play. Viewers would be more excited of course to see famous celebrities playing in games shows. But you have a point. They should rather just give the game to common people who are in need of money. Or better yet, they can just ask celebrities to play for the chosen person. I see shows doing that way.

Isnt it ironic that celebrities dont hype me. rather than let the show build its own hype, Tv networks chose to rely too much with the celebrities,. I kinda prefer ordinary players because we know winning will change their life. In case of celebrities, its just on the things on their list to do.

Capt, those celebrities need the dough for liposuction and stem cells, not to mention other aesthetic surgeries they need to keep with their image. Game shows are not worth the watch, it's a slice of meat to a pack of wolves.

Add to that a publicity stunt/ploy for their shows and otehr stuff. Quite right, chiyosan and eileen but sometimes seeing them is quite boring and adds nothing to their character or person.

Celebrities are the main players in one game show, however, their winnings go to charity. I hope I'm correct...because the host always says so.

its goes to charity. thats the reason they were so happy go lucky as they play the game and they were too image conscious, making the game not us fun. because they were so fake, They want to look good on tv.

I agree most of the games are now being played by artist and not by ordinary contestants. I guess the network is having a hard time getting contestants. They can easily get from the roster of their talents and just make the game for a cause kind of thing since most of them wold donate their winnings to some charitable organizations of some sort.

There are people dying in line just to join these gameshows, then there are people who spends money in those text promo just to be a contestant and they dont ask for talent fee. Its much cheaper to let ordinary people play,

I agree with heaven_sent64 and SIMPLYD, celebrities winnings go to charity and it's a good way to show how the game is played using celebrities to get viewers interested, now when ratings are already high ( good also for the network and sponsors), then it's time for the ordinary people to play.
