Since it was raining so hard last Friday which I already posted here, I have to brought out my umbrella in my bag to use. I rode a jeepney to go to the fx terminal since it was Friday and coding day, I need to commute.
While waiting for a fx/public vehicle to ride in, my umbrella malfunctioned and can't be closed. No matter how many times I tried to close it, nothing happens. It comes in my mind that once a fx vehicle came, I will just left my umbrella there since I cant bring it in while open. Luckily, before a fx came, it closed for the last tried that I made. Thank God for that and for now my umbrella is already fixed by my dad.
Will you think of leaving it as well if it happened to you folks?

Although I have to admit that I would be scared that it would rain again before I had the opportunity to buy a new umbrella, I really do think that I would be likely to do exactly the same thing that you had considered in this situation. The reason that I would do that is because of the fact that I wouldn't want to take a wet, opened umbrella on public transportation and I also know that umbrellas are not all that expensive, so I would be able to replace it without having to stress about the cost of the umbrella.

That would be the best option in that case since it would really be hassle to bring it but still got luckt that time to closed it on time. Try and try until you succeed motto applied to me in that situation. Now my umbrella is working cause my dad alreay repaired it.

So far that hasnt happened to me yet. But I did have my fair share of other umbrella malfunctions, like the umbrella getting ruined by the wind, the handle coming off, and the actual tubes supporting it breaking. If I were you, I would have left it as well. Unless of course it is one of those super expensive ones that are supposed to last a long time.

Oh strong wind is also a problem which I also experienced. Good thing that it didnt break to much and just turned upside so I immediately closed it and dont use it.

i'll live it for sure. when it rains its hard to get a cab or any puv. i'd rather live the umbrella than lose the chance of getting a ride....

Yeah better to leave it than to lose the puv but good thing that I don't reached that point. I still felt lucky and blessed that time and now my umbrella was already repaired by my father who is really good in repairing simple things like umbrella. At least I dont need to buy new one since I am just using my umbrella for almost three months only.

Yes, we have no choice. Before the last try, I will pray hard
because a new umbrella will cost RM10 here in Malaysia. Small
foldable umbrella tend to go inside out when heavy rain and
windy. It is really annoying and people will be looking at
us struggling to open the umbrella nicely. I prefer big
umbrella with auto press button. However it is not suitable
at crowded area because it tend to knock others.

Yeah it came in my mind that people might noticed what I was struggling about but there were just busy as well waiting for a public transport to ride in. I also prayed that hopefully it closed since I still need the umbrella once I reached my destination. Good thing that I still tried couple of times till the vehicle came.

Well, thats exactly what I would do.if it dosen't work properly
why would I keep it especially when I need it...and its not doing
what it needs to do...I would leave it in a heart beat.. Besides
for me its just as easy to replace it with another one of the\
several I have home...

That really came first in my mid to leave it automatically when a fx come so I wont missed the opportunity to ride in since there are some passengers around waiting there chance ride in as well. What I worried that time if I will leave my umbrella is when heavy rains continues when I reach the office cause I still have to walk a bit before I reach the office building.
