IT's not only the higher salary offered abroad is the reason why there are lots of filipino do force to work abroad, but also the age limit .We all knew here if you are not really excellent in English you cannot work in a call center where is the only job nwo that do hired up to 45 years of age.so the rest mostly age limit are 25 only fwe requires up to 30 years old. and they require must be a graduate of.. must have a height of.Job here is really a computation there are lots of young people who are still jobless up to know.AND the only job you can see everywhere is only like maid. helper which the salary is not enough for your everyday food.Maximum job contract here is only for 5 months and three weeks. So now I am on 30+ age. Most of my co workers before are now working abroad for in abroad they require up to 45 years age plus a long contract which is between 2 to 3 years contract and renewable unlike here .that after you worked you can never come back again. That is the reason even me working abroad is one of my option for here it's very hard to get job in my age.It is really a big discrimination here.Even your stronger than 20+ as long as you are 30+ above they will not still hire you. Addition to unemployment is many applicant but leser job available.

one should not restrict a person's knowledge based on age. every people are capable of doing something and they jave the ability to do something in which they feel that they are the best.of employees are restricted by age, then unemployment rate will ve hogh and per capita income of a person in a countru will go low which is again will create a bad name for that country.it will leads to poverty too. so government should take some action to provide job for many youngsters.it should provide jobs based on age category and it should ensure that everyone should get job.

True, even not a call center, sometimes, they want an applicant to be fluent in english. But speaking english is not the basis to be hired. It's how you handle the work load, the sense of responsibility and urgency.

It is a shame that people from the Philippines have to work overseas and there is also an age limit. It is a pity that many people have not got a job at all. I know that in a call center that the people must speak good English. I wonder what education is like in the Philippines getting the people ready for work. I used to think it was the higher salary was the reason why so many Filipinos have to work overseas. Not any more so thanks for explaining why many of them work abroad.

Salary here is really not sufficient especially if you are renting a house and a brewdwinner of a family especially if you have extended family. Working abroad is the only option to have a good life to provide for their living.and also the only job where they can be qualified because of the age, that is why many filipinos sacrifice their emotional feelings and force to separate to their family just to work abroad.

Thats true.i was once told in one company that i am applying for a job that i am OVER QUALIFIED.
and they cannot hire me.i told them if i am over qualified then i must get the job.then they said they cant because im over age.tjat tome i was 33 and their limit is only 30.
Thats the time i decided to open up my own business were i am the boss and no need for damn age requirements.

you made the right choice. If I only have enough money to put up a small business.I will do the same thing too and that is also my plan. It's like competing to a pageant when you apply for a job here.

Depends on the company and the position to which you're applying to. Not all companies in the Philippines don't hire over 30 - but majority do not hire over age people. And it's sad that they do not give these people a chance. Considering they are more experienced and matured.

That is true enelym, not all companies don't hire over 30. They do hire 30+ with supervisory or managerial positions, those who are experienced and been working with other company for the longest time. :)

It is sad that companies want to hire younger people, maybe because they think that older people know more and therefore more likely to also know their rights and know how to work around the system. But when it comes to other requirements, like fluency in English, if the job calls for it, then it is the company's right as well to hire people who qualifies for that skill especially if that is how most of the job will be done.

I've heard that in the view of the chinese business man here they hire young people because They can control it because of their young age and they said that they are much faster than the age of(sometimes THEY only hire 18-22 only) 25+ UP Which I beg to disagree.based on my work experience and being with different co employee. oldest one are much faster than the young ones. and also they are much obedient than younger ones because they already have family so that is why the job is important for them that's why they always obey so that they will not lose their job.

Its sad to know that Filipino age limit is so young . A lot of people from the Caribbean island work over seas also not because of the money but to just have a job .

Actually this depends. Higher positions in a company like supervisor or managerial levels hire 30 years old and above employees. Or those 30 and above employees could have started in the company when they were younger and just ranked up the system making them managers and supervisors now with some employees under them. It really depends. Like in airline companies, stewards and stewardesses, have an age limit of not being 30. I guess they want them to look young? I don't know. But anyhow, if I were a company owner, I would rather hire a more experienced employee regardless of age so as to contribute more assets to the company.

This is something new to me. I have not heard the situation in Philippine regarding the job market. That is why I do see quite some people from Philippine coming into my country to search for work. I guess you have to find the right place to have the career you want. Perhaps you can try and apply at nearby countries? There are career opportunity available in many places. If you have some soft skills then it may come in handy too.

I agree with you. And that's not the only problem so far, sometimes companies are hiring applicants base on the backer (the person behind their application, the person helping them to get the job) and not base on the qualifications. And would you believe some applicants get hired because they did "under the table" ( you know what I mean)?

JUST like our neighbor he is more than 50 years old but he was hired and start to work this day.He is working in an airline company here as office staff . you see. because his uncle is working there. so that's why he got hired. that is the example of having a baker.Baker system is common here in Philippines.

yes its true, they accept employee only from the age of 21-30, if you are above 30 they will not accept, i don't know why they have this kind of qualification they prefer to accept fresh grad than the old one who really knows the job,so sad to know this thats why there are still wanted to work abroad because of the policy like this.i hope it will change for the people who still want to work and can able to work.
