I guess I cannot vote again this coming elections because last time I handle a position during the day of election and I did not pay attention to a letter from comelec and I miss elections so my name is not in the voter's list. For the many who will vote again, I hope they will not waste their votes. I hope people will not vote the candidates based on their looks, their pictures on tarpaulins, their jingles, their dances, their fantastic TV commercials and a lot of promises. I did see one senatorial candidate with a plain commercial, no songs, no celebrity endorsers, no testimonials but seems good. He just presents the most pressing problems of the country and he directly said the best solution to it and he did not make himself cute for saying that. He looks sincere. People should really scan their candidates if they just want to be glorified or they really want to help.

Dances? There are politicians who do dances and jingles trying to get votes?

Sometimes they do dance and sing to entertain. For sure they will use latest dance hits for their jingles.

I have always exercised my right to vote ever since I was able to. I don't know if I should really put faith on the results that we get coz I knew hoe dirty the election process has always been. My husband once run for a barangay post. Although his parents could spend more in order to pay voters for him to win, of course that didn't happen because we want to play the game with a clean conscience. But I have seen just how many of those candidates just threw out their money just to win the post. It is so funny how an UNKNOWN individual in our community gets to be elected! My husband practically was known and never had any bad record on his name, and yet he was voted out. It was a huge disappointment on us but what can we do about it when THEIR money talks and ours do not?

You have to be very popular to win even without money or at least in other form of vote buying. Well, people will love vote buying because a lot of people needs money.

That is one reason why elections are good for nothing coz not all great people for that post could get elected. Money just makes all things possible for those who have bad intentions. And I am not surprised at all why these people now on their respective posts does not even do anything. They are all after their monthly salaries and possible "Money showers" from whoever!

I've been helping our country since the day I was allowed to vote. I keep voting for the right people but alas the most famous and most well-known candidates are the ones that get elected, thanks to the majority of voters which is the "urban poor". I almost don't feel like voting again this coming election but my conscience tells me I just got to. I guess I already have my list of candidates and am hoping they get elected this time.

Hello averygirl, I wonder who is this person that you're talking about? because there is one politician that i know that doesn't really use jingle just to get the publics votes. It's really insulting that they would dare to sing or dance just to get votes instead of getting their platforms known to the people. these strategies insults me as if they think all voters are stupid.

Hi, When people don't trust this government and the processes of electing their leaders, then we are headed to nowhere. For it is enough for bad people to take control when responsible citizens fail to do their duty, anarchy is not far off and those who carry the biggest stick shall whip everyone not in their line of thinking. We really don't want that so it is fitting to choose wisely even if their principles are far from our own personal motives.

Hi averygirl! Yes, I hope our countrymen already learned the lesson. But it is a sad thing that still most of our people still do not understand the situation. That is why some or most politicians would take advantage of the situation. Have a great day!

I do hope this election will be a lot different. After long years of sleeping, people I guess are more aware now that it's time for some candidates to go and replace them with new faces.

That is the most favorite dream of a filipino to vote wisely but can we do that? Only a few cast their votes wisely or as far as they are concerned they had voted wisely. In our place, vote buying is really rampant aside from those who voted as what you stated in your discussion based on the candidates' looks, etc. I don't know in other places in the Philippines.

I don't know if they vote wisely or there is rampant anomalies during elections.
