Gigabit Internet Speed

If I'm not mistaken, other countries internationally have faster internet for a lower price than most Americans. There have been significantly fast optic fiber installations in Hong Kong, as well as people who have unlimited texting & streaming online for free. What does Time Warner Cable assume? "There's no consumer demand for Gigabit Internet".
I'd like to have a word with the executive of this company, because we are living in a generation where technology is pushing how we humans grow. Back in my childhood, I remember how often we bought those AOL disks that had "1000 hours of free internet!", and to have one person "represent" a majority of the people in the United States say essentially, "We don't need to improve" is rather infuriating.
If higher internet speeds are granted in more popular parts of the states, then the people living in terrible conditions at least have the internet. (Plus in all honesty, a lot of businesses do business online, so it would allow people to get a job) Granted, Gigabit speed is obviously not going to come around the corner or the next month, though preventing it from happening (in my opinion) feels like an acceptance of getting rid of your brain cells.
How do you feel about this? If you have this type of speed, do you think it makes a significant difference on whether or not you change from 5 Mbps to your current speed?

Data speed is very important while working in internet. Every one is interested in high speed internet, no one wish to have a low speed old generation connection. We are using a good speed internet connection with 15 gb monthly usage.
