A police scanner can be great entertainment............

I use to hgave one years ago, but now it's illegal if your caught with one.

i think i have an app on my phone that can listen to police. i never tried to listen to it, but i bet you it's really trip. i bet you police are really foul behind the scenes. they are in front of the scenes, that's for sure. lol.

Who needs crime drama on television when you have the real thing coming live into your home via scanner. I hope that is the closest crime comes to your door.

I agree they can be fun. I have listen one time when my brother in law had one. It is so interesting to hear what is going on. I got so into it I would wanted to follow the police to the crime scenes. It is so interesting to hear their lingo and to hear how they handle different emergencies and crime situations. I can definitely understand the entertainment of this but also it can end up being very sad at times depending on the crime.

I have a police scanner on my phone and my husband and I listen to it sometimes too. It is very interesting to hear. =) It can be pretty fun!

My older brother has a police scanner and he has it on all the time. His girlfriend says he turns it up when he sees a cop in the area that he lives. I think he likes to be nosey. (lol). They are fun to listen to to find out what is going on around you. You might be surprised.

Yes, sometimes you can learn a lot ,and then times you will hear things u wish you did not hear about as well. One of my friends from work even goes on the site online that tells about things. But it can be interesting seeing some of the things happening around you.

It's illegal to have police scanners here. Usually it's the criminal element that has them. Please be careful.

I never heard one but I can imagine how much fun it would be to listen to. And you can also hear what's happening close to you in your area. Good for your son turning it on...it might have sat there for a few more weeks and you wouldn't be having all this entertainment. I wish I had one.

It sure help a lot for every wannabe criminal to listen in on police scanner, just listening to their talk, one probably can avoid making any hit getting caught by police, at least one can make a quick escape before they arrive. Other than provide entertainment, it is quick a handy tool for a wannabe criminal too.

My dad used to listen to them all the time. Sometimes there are other people besides police on there. Like these foreign sounding guys will come on there and be singing like "ELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLO!" I'm like " The hell is goin on?" It is pretty entertaining.

A few years ago we also had a scanner and we had fun hearing all the things that they were doing, it shows that they do a lot more things than we think.Also shows that they are straight and to the point as well when they are chatting, just like we all are.

I am sure that can be interesting and fun. I remember back in the 80's. CB's were popular. I had one and so did my cousin. We called each other on the CB instead of the phone. LOL. And we used to hear lots of stuff on them. They are entertaining, thats for sure.

My grandfather has one and it's even more hilarious when he tells us what he's heard. Just watching him talk about it is funny because he has no teeth and fat chipmunk cheeks like I do lol. It's very entertaining!!!

The police scanner sounds like ideal amusement and fun. The police chases must be very entertaining. In my home country there are some police programs that are exciting and interesting to watch. I watch The Ultimate Police Interceptors sometimes. Much crime seems to happen after dark.

I am just curious why your brother will have a police scanner. The police scanner reminds me of the movie Spiderman. Spiderman often listens to the police scanner and whenever there is an urgent case, he will show up immediately

Sometimes you can also hear them online depending on your locality. So we listen from time to time it can be quite interesting as we live close to a fire station and highway so you are always hearing something. But as always interesting to figure out where they are going and what's going on in your community.

Police communications are usually encrypted and these scanners are usually illegal. I hope that you are not breaking the law here. I do not know about your country and the laws governing this but in mine, it is a very serious offense. So do be careful and know what you are doing.

I bought a scanner 20 years ago, when RadioShack had still shops in France, and it was an interesting gadget. Actually quite all communications are encrypted, except some emergency services, and a scanner is just good to listen radio stations.

I think in any situation can be fun. We just need to be able to derive pleasure and usefulness. not to think about sad things. Good day I hope to be more fun.
