Today was lovely and sunny. We took our two dogs out for a short walk. My son was moaning because he wished to stay at home playing. My daughter enjoyed riding along on her scooter. I love my two miniature poodles dearly. They are called Secret and Magic. I believe they make me enjoy life more. They are sweet, playful, soft to touch and love going out for walkies. I was aged 32 years old when I bought Secret the dog from a breeder in Lancashire. Two years later when I was 34 years old I bought Magic from a family in Essex. I am allergic to moulting dog fur so having non moulting dogs is ideal for me.
Do you have any pets that you find let you enjoy life more?
If so where do you get your pets from?
Which age did you get a dog if this applies to you?

It is lovely that you used to have a dog. It is a great idea that you will get another pet from an animal shelter.
In my childhood and teenage years my mum would often take me and my sister to an shelter called Foal Farm. One time there I saw two male black standard poodles called Bill and Ben. They looked so lovely and let me wish to get a dog when I grew up.

Hi maximax8, I love both dogs and cats but right now I have two cats. They really add to my life and I feel that I would be lost without them. My niece has a dog who loves to see me coming as I play with him and sometimes take him for a walk.. Blessings.

I live in a small apartment. There is no scope to have pets in a small space. I like dog. At my boyhood we have to little dogs. One was gray hound and the other was long hairy dog. But unfortunately they were killed by some notorious men. Till then I don't want to have any pet.

I love having my pets ! i have a dog,a beautiful Rottweiller,he will turn 3 on april 7.He is a sweet dog, maybe a bit vocal,he barks at the other dogs requesting play . We received him as a retirement present from my stepson, and he keeps us on our toes.Keeps us active, walking him,and playing with him.The best time of the week is when I put Zeus in the car,and drive to the dog park, for him to play with a lot of other dogs, big and small. And he does not care how cold it is.Every body id=s talking spring, but here is snowing, and he loves the snow. We also have 2 cats, one outoor, and one that we can not let out since who ever abandoned it,declawed it first.Except theis dog,all the previous animals we had were rescues.

Thanks for your excellent response to my discussion. Your beautiful dog sounds really lovely. It isn't long until his third birthday. He was a wonderful retirement present from your stepson. Zeus is a superb name. Your two cats also sound gorgeous.

I missed taking care of pets. They are like babies to me, and yes it is always great to have such pets at home and whenever you come home to them, they are just so excited to see you. So often they make you feel better seeing them, and a hard day's work can be eased up just by playing with your pets! :D

Yes, I think animals make people happy. I don't have a dog but when I visit my aunt and her dogs, I always feel better just lying around on the couch with one of her dogs or going on a walk with them. I think people just enjoy company in general; whether it is a human being or an animal.

I agree! Pets are a great way to keep you happy and balanced because they are made for companionship. It doesn't matter how long you've been away, they love it when you come back. Not every person can love an animal but every animal loves a person. I've had a few dogs over the years but since we travel so much we will have to settle down before we get one again.

When I travel my mom usually takes care of my two dogs. She takes great care of them. My dogs love it when I come back home again. They show that they have missed me great. It is lovely that you have had a few dogs over the years. Now I notice you don't have due to all your traveling.

I loved my dog when I had her, but I decided against getting another one because I want to travel as much as I can and I don`t have anyone who will feed it. How do you do it? Does your mother always take care of your dogs when you go out?

My mother is lovely taking care of my dogs when I go out for a day or on a trip to a different place. I am so very grateful to her. My mother used to have cats but she is not intending on getting anymore. I know you love your traveling but don't have anyone that could care for a dog if you had one. It is wonderful that you used to have a dog.

Yeah, I agree with you. I am living my friend right now and we are only two at the boarding house. She decided to buy a kitten.I do not like kitten, before but when my friend bought a kitten, I started to love this kind of animal. I am more on puppies than kitten before. I started to love "Kiko" our kitten because it was so sweet and cuddling. I am always alone in our boarding house but when Kiko arrived I felt like I am not alone anymore. I used to play with him also. It can take away my stress in a snap of a finger.

I completely agree. Having pets around gives you so much pleasure. I love to watch all our animals interact, and the cats and dogs are always there when I want something to hug.
Our cats and dogs now mainly all children of their predecessors, so it's been a while since we brought pets in. The same with the goats and rabbits, it's just the poultry I buy in as youngsters.

Dogs or pets can give many health benefits to human. They can help us fight stress by playing with them or just talking to them (They tend to understand human). I have my dog as a gift from my fiance. He's a local Philippines dog. I love him. I am happy having him with me. He likes to cuddle and stare at me. Haha. I have him for more than a year now. He's one of the sweetest blessings for me. I am happy for you that you have dogs too.
