I am a collage student and I am in my final year. Several companies have come and are still coming to recruit students. I got selected in the second campus selection. But many of my yearmates are still without a job, some who are more intelligent then me. Mainly because they were unable to score well in the group discussion. So my question is whether GD's are helpful to judge a candidates efficiency in corporate jobs.

I've hired people before and their work skills, ability to work as a team member where more important then grades. A person can be brilliant but if they can't work with others or are hard to work with then they will be passed over for a person that is more of a team player.
Some careers are different. I think it's mainly what the company is looking for, but I've hired people based on their workability with others and found them to be a better employee.
