It is summer where I live. It`s time for ripe fruit and at a cheap price. It is also time for me to make smoothies. I love them! I make smoothies with ice and water and now I use Splenda instead of sugar. I prefer to mix. Strawberries and a bit of banana and pineapple are wonderful. But when I want the real thing there`s no mixing: I like mango smoothies made with milk and ice. Almost no sugar needed. And you?

I make them at home with the blender. They don`t use that much fruits. Ice is the thing when one is thirsty.

You just put in a blander whatever fruits you have around (I prefer fruits to veggies) , a bit of sugar or any sweetener of your liking, ice and water. You blend all and drink. You can also make other smoothies with milk.

Here it is first part of spring. Still we are feeling light cool weather. Winter is our best season. In the winter we get various type of vegetables like coli flower, beet.beans, tomato, potato and various types of herbs. So we can make delicious dishes. Our markets are now full of vegetables. I like vegetable more than meat.

I don't think that I've ever used sugar or a sugar substitute at any time when I've made a smoothie. I will usually just let the natural sweetness of the fruits be the star in the smoothies that I will make at home.
My favorite is to get peaches, strawberries, perhaps a little bit of banana and some yogurt to make a fruit smoothie. However, I really can't think of any fruits that I don't think go really well with a homemade smoothie. What I don't like is the smoothies that have chocolate in them. That just ruins it in my opinion.

I don`t add sugar when fruit is ripe. But I like extra sweetness if it is a little bit tart. I like a chocolate and coffee smmothie or a fruit one. I don`t mix.

Like you i love smoothies because it's very healthy and delicious. Almost everyday I make watermelon and yogurt smoothies, papaya smoothies and banana-strawberry. I usually put some fresh milk or skim milk to make them more delicious and never use sugar for my smoothies.

Mangos and bananas are some of the ones I like best. Berries make wonderful smoothies too. I prefer strawberries to the other berries.

I do something like that too. And what I put into a smoothie depends on what I have around as fruits go.

Its hard to find smoothies without those nasty bananas in them, but I've found a few in stores. I don't make them myself, I don't keep milk in the house for drinking. The new roommate, D, drinks lactaid milk since she's lactose intolerant and the other roomie now drinks soy "milk" because the milk sugars give her problems. I'm just allergic to milk, and, on top of that, milk started making me sick to my stomach when I was a teen.
So, I guess I'm kind of saying that smoothies don't get made here, for various reasons.

Maybe you could make fruit juices made with water. I never buy smoothies as they are not as good and a lot more expensive than the ones I make. But when I went to Arica, 2 years ago, I bought mango smoothies every day.

Hello, mama marguicha! It's also very hot now in our country and a lot of business-minded people have started selling halo-halo (http://www.mytummyisfull.com/restaurant/maxs-gigantic-halo-halo-summer-treat/)
My kids love eating halo-halo, but I would sometimes be making mango smoothies and of course melon and coco smoothies. They are their favorites.

All smoothies are so good and refreshing! Summer is giving way to Autumn here so it is not so hot. Still smoothies are part of my meals yet.

Hi marguicha!
That must be delicious! Yeah, it's getting warmer, an indication that summer is fast approaching.
I am looking forward to make some refreshments too.
Have a great day!

Our summer is ending, but Autumn is still reasonable mild here.
