I am currently dating again and the man that I am involved with feels that even though we have connected and know that we want to be together we need to let our children get to know each other as well. So we have been trying to start off simple by letting the kids have play dates at least one weekend a month or so. Now we have discussed going on the road, but where to? We are having a hard time deciding where to go. Silly I know. The thing is we are new to the whole meaningful relationship thing such as being with someone post kids and previous marriage. As we recently spent our first Valentine's Day together. There was a few ideas thrown out there, but nothing definite. So my fellow mylotters this is where you come into play. Please give me your opinion. Tell me what you think or even tell us of your previous family vacations.

I would start with a close road trip to some where kid friendly and appropriate for their ages.

I think you might like to take a road trip down to Florida. Then you could have a family time on the beach playing games and fun at Disney World. If you don't live that near Florida I suggest staying in a guest house for one week and going on days out.
I did that in 2011 up to the Yorkshire Coast. We did days out to Whitby, went on a steam railway, visited a castle and went to Tropical World in Leeds. My kids loved that trip within our home country. In 2012 we did a self drive trip of one week to Cornwall. We stayed at a bungalow in a holiday camp. We visited gardens, beaches and towns. It waqs a lovely time for my children.
Good luck choosing where to go for your family vacation.

Well you could go to Disney World. My last family vacation was to a place called Trout Lodge in the Ozarks in the state of Missouri. It was so nice because they have a lake you can swim in paddle boating golfing archery. It is a nice place if you want to start off with a small vacation and a first one for you and him with kids.

I have been wanting to go to Virginia to the mountains for a while now, Luray Virginiq. There are so many outdoor activities to do, log cabins to stay in, beautiful scenery, etc. Looks like I will never get my wish but I still hope maybe one day...
It looks like an incredible vacation spot, good for the whole family!

My dad Always said: the best way to get to know eachother for real is go camping in a really small tent. This way you have to learn to work together, depend on eachother, lack of luxury will show the real person/personalities and how they cope with problems (with humour for example).

I think of all the possible vacation destinations out there Colorado is defiantly the top of the list. Especially the western part of Colorado, crested butte, gunnison area. It is cheaper than most other destinations and there are a lot of fun activities for kids. I know because my family went every summer, it was a tradition, and my brother decided to move to Denver because of it. There are the best hikes in country, next to yellowstone which is over crowded and expensive. There is plenty of camping and fishing locations, horse back riding, rafting, of all skill levels. Also Denver would be the second most fun city in that region for a stay. Santa Fe is probably more exciting, but Denver has great restraunts, botanical gardens, aircraft hangar made into museum. The weather is great in the summer and there are a lot of little towns to walk around and get a good bite to eat. If your not going to the beach then Western Colorado is the best mountain region you can get. Yellowstone = Expensive, South Dakota = Mount Rushmore... and boredom rest of trip. I have been to and between all these places.
