Was He Really A Wonderful Person?

Watching the news and seeing the tragic events unfolding with regard to the Florida sinkhole I heard something.
As I write this post the search for Mr Bush has been called off and plans are being made to demolish the house.
Family members are shown on TV, grief stricken - That is another discussion for another day
Quite a few of these family members have said what a wonderful person Mr Bush was...
Now - First, I would like to state that I in no way doubt what his family say about Mr Bush.
Nonetheless - When we do see TV Grief, we are told how wonderful and what an all around good egg a recently deseased person is.
Does that mean that all people who die are wonderful?
I have been to several funerals of family members and to be brutally honest - Most of them were PR|CKS with very few redeeming qualities.
Am I to assume that the slate is wiped clean when death comes knocking?
Are we to forget some of the unpleasant behaviour of the dead?
If you have lost someone, then do not see this as a slight on that person.
All I am saying is that there are some proper nasty people dying on a daily basis
