Yesterday my husband and I went shopping for his clothes and pants, while his busy at the men's section I decided to go the nearest fabric store and found a very colorful textile which suits to our bedroom. It's been a 4 months when the last time i made our old curtains and it's time to change them i think. Summer is approaching and I want to make something to make our bedroom and living room looks very refreshing and brighter. Now my husband is sleeping and I have enough time to start to make the curtains. Have a good afternoon!

Wow, good for you that you can make your own curtains and custom-made it to fit whatever design it is that you have in mind. I also think that it is cheaper that way. I was also thinking of replacing the winter-themed curtains I got in my bedroom as spring is almost here. I need something lighter in color and material to let some sunshine filter through. My winter curtains are heavy and warm. But sadly, I do not have the necessary sewing skills like you do to make my own. I either have to buy a ready made set or go to someone who can sew them for me.

I just bought some fabric to make "curtains" for my bathroom. No window, but the general area is where the sink is, and then it kind of "L" shapes for the toilet so I made curtains that just hand down and a valance and they hang at the wall to cabinet just before you get to the area where the toilet is. Kind of sets it off as another room appearance and gives the bathroom some color and definition. Nicest $20 I have spent in awhile!

Making our own curtain helped me to save money than buying ready made curtains.

Good for you! I like to make things also but big things like sewing a curtain is not my thing. My mom does those. She loves to shop for fabrics also whenever possible. In our house now, most of our bed sheets, curtains and other covers were just sewn by my mom. Have a happy afternoon! Enjoy your hobby!

I have always made curtains out of bed sheets! You can get the prettiest colors and patterns, and they don't wrinkle and the exact size....everything! I use twin size mostly, and one sheet for each side, and usually they are longer than I need so I use the extra as a valance. Or if I buy a third sheet for the valance, I have enough left to make some pillows or use at another window. I always did this, but when I got my first home (bought it!) I was tired of curtains and I just got faux wood mini blinds. They look so nice and I dont' have to wash them...just dust!
But I am quiting now and the sheets are the perfect fabric for the back of the quilt...so sheets (flat ones) are the best!

Oh that made me jealous. I also know how to sew curtains but am so busy that I can't manage anymore to sew. My sewing machine has been idle for long years now. I've been buying curtains for so many years. I wish I can find time to sit down and sew once again. How I wish, how I really wish.

Hi there! how are things going? this was 4 weeks ago and I popped in to see if there were any pics of your curtains. My mom always made her own curtains because she loved to paint and wall paper, and then she would make curtains to match. I hope they turned out well.

That was my plan two months ago before my grandson came and my daughter left him to me. I will try to make a new set of curtains and even a sofa cover match with the curtain but I think I will just do it when my daughter take her son with her.

It's good that you were able to buy some fabric for your new curtains, bhelen. Surprise your husband when he comes home from work, with the new look of your bedroom, when the new curtains are done and up.
I am sure he will like the new look of your bedroom. I also plan to buy curtain materials this summer to surprise our daughter when she comes home for a school vacation, this summer. She liked the green curtain i have sewn last summer, when she came home for Christmas vacation.
