I was actually almost stressed with one store cashier here in our area. Because the cash changed i got from their store is lacking. Lol.Only 0.90 peso is lacking actually. Too little but it create impact my customer right to claim it. It was not only once they did this kind. And maybe some maybe victim but they just ignored it. Hope other stores will inform their customer if they don't have cents to give. At least customer are informed. To my calculation, if hundred thousand passed buying at their store, so hundred thousand is being saved by their store. Hope the store management will have action on this.

Oh Yeah! The store cashiers really create problems. In India there is a new trend, they keep a assortment of sweets at the counter and as you make the payment they give you the chocolates of the amount of change they dont have.

That is why in my opinion, stores should always have extra spare change kept in a safe place in the store. What this means is that, there should be enough change in the till (cashier) and there should be some extra spare change kept in another place in the store. This will ensure that when the till is out of change, it can always be refilled with the extra that is kept elsewhere. One of the staff in the store should be put in charge of making sure that the extra change is always replenished when it's used, and a trip to the bank is warranted when that happens. From my personal point of view, not giving a change to a customer when it's due is against the law, even if it's only 5 cents. The only exception is if the customer is fine with not receiving the change.

are you sure that they are short changing you? I ask because I work as a cashier and many times I haave been questioned. What really happens a lot is that the change will be like 10.97, Rather than to give the person back .97, I give them back ll.00 so they are actually getting their change and then some but they "think" I might be short changing them.

THere are many small grocery stores here in our country and we call it sari sari store. It is a retail store actually of most household needs like retail of cooking oil, condiments, candies and a lot more. Those retail stores don't give cash change too. :( What they give is candy in exchange of small coin change. You can imagine how much they earn through that! Those stores don't even accept 5cents, 10cents and even 25centavos!
