I really don't wanna go to the dentist on Wednesday

So last month I went to the dentist and I was told I may have gum disease so I would need some special type of cleaning. Ok so when I was there he mainly did a regular cleaning and got rid of the plaque that was built up and everything else. Some chips of my teeth are now gone and although they have grown back together I still have like 2 gaps in my bottom row of teeth. Last time I went I had spit out so much blood from my gums bleeding (cause of the cleaning) and chips of enamel were still in my mouth as well. It was gross but my mouth did feel a little better afterwards. I take care of my teeth but I am worried the when I go back on Wednesday he will tell me that I will need a deep cleaning and that is definitely something I want no part of. I am highly afraid of needles so I don't want my gums numbed and at the same time they can't knock me out (put me under) because they don't allow that. I really don't remember ever going to the dentist when I was younger, now I know why I wanted to forget it. Do you like going to the dentist? or Are you a fraidy cat like I am?

I tend to neglect going to the dentist unless I have a painful problem. But from my experience, that is not the way to go. I have actually heard of two people that I know having gum disease. I don't know if this is becoming more prevalent or what. But I strongly suggest that people take care of their dental issues ASAP, even if I don't take my own advice. This is a case where things only get worse.

I have a friend who has a really good teeth. she has all of her original. they look good. and I never heard her speak of a cavity. but last year she came down with gum disease. she is face with getting 1 of those expensive cleaning. whereas I have issues with my teeth but have never had gum disease. I don't know that 1 has to do with the other. I also recently heard that issues with the teeth can be genetic.

I had the same problem when I went to our dentist last month, well I'm close to having that gum disease so in order to prevent it, they have to do a special cleaning on me called scaling and root planing. I have to be given novocaine and have laughing gas just so I wouldn't feel the pain and be calm during the whole procedure. They have to do this in 2 sessions for the up and bottom jaw as the dentist doesn't want work on me in one go. After the novocaine's effect wore off, I am so glad that he didn't do all my teeth. I was in such pain. I suffered greatly from numbed lips to tongue, cant speak for hours and eat some food, then after that the extreme gum pains. BUt now, I am so glad that we did do the procedure. My gums do not bleed anymore when I brush my teeth, they feel clean and light. We have to pay $800 for it because I wasn't in my husband's insurance yet (we're just newly weds).

I've had scaling done before but I wasn't given novacane or anything like that. She just did some numbing gel on my gums. It worked for a little bit but wore off. She was very gentle and I didn't bleed much. This past time is when I had all the bleeding and I think I may have swallowed some of the blood. This last time I had scaling done and my gums weren't numb at all, but it didn't hurt too much.
