Breakdown on intelligence gathering

I am just perplexed with what is happening in Sabah, Malaysia particularly in a small island called Tanduao, Datu Lahad and where a few hundred supporters of Datu Jamalul Kiram are being holed up. It happened so fast and such action I believe was planned long time ago, However what I cannot understand is why the Philippine Police or the Military including Intelligence Agencies failed in monitoring such plan and instituted some measures in order to prevent such incident from happening.. Is there an unforseen hand that is orchestrating all of these.... What are your thoughts about it...

Just recently on the news they said that there are higher officials or authorities who are supporting and funding the forces of Kiram. I think this is why our officials are having a hard time in stopping them because higher positions in the government are pulling the strings in this stint. I don't know it may be of economic reasons for the claim of Sabah. The president himself has said this but no names were dropped.

Hello sammy14, I don't think the military intelligence of our armed forces aren't sophisticated anymore compare to the time of marcos. there's probably way too many problems in our country now that our forces had their hands fool. in time due to corruption, the military has deteriorated and could no longer provide good quality intelligence gathering. my thoughts are the government should have more recruits.

I agree with you our military and police as well are multi-tasking and when you do this definitely some other things which are equally important are neglected.. We see our police and military in disaster areas helping the victims. But we should be grateful for this.. Another reason maybe when it comes to intelligence gathering, right and competent people are not being placed in right positions because of political patronage... still another one reason would be.. equipments and personnel are being used for political purposes...
