Do Any Doctors in 'Big Pharma' Actually Want Us to Be Well?

You know 'Big Pharma' is a slang-term for "the phamaceutical industry---makers of medical-products." And you might suppose that the term accompanies 'feelings that the companies are "only in it for the money".' But aren't there doctors & pharmaceutical CEOs that DON'T CARE if it makes money as long as people get well? Aren't there any healers who heal for the glory of healing?

Actually, the ones who make the most money are (naturally) the CEOs. The doctors--while their income is definitely above-average--are just wage-slaves.

Well, they'd have to; or else one of them would destroy the other as they wouldn't be worth keeping alive

Of course they want you to be well. They want you to feel good with their products, they want you to tell everyone that their products works. They want you to share to everyone that they are really experts in their expertise. Besides there are illnesses that are permanent and they never get cured like diabetes And such. Either way, a lot of people still get sick everyday, its really not their loss.

Of course they want you to feel good with their products---just like I want you to feel good reading the discussions I start or -join. but There's a big difference between 'feeling good' & 'being well'!

I kind of struggle with this. If a person is going to rely on a pill to pop to cancel out the things they won't do for themselves, then who is really wrong here? I agree that the pharmaceutical companies aren't in anyone's best interest and that the majority of the doctors out there will milk an insurance company with every test under the sun unnecessarily, but there has to be an element of responsibility on the patients side too. Think it all boils down to a person knowing what they should be doing for themselves and having a good care provider that is in that career because they want to help people not pad their pocket.

The family doctor that i had from the 1970's until the 1990's...He did everything... Delivered babies....Took care of the old..... When you had a appointment..he spent time with you...He talked to you.. If you had something that he did not understand...he learned what it was, and how to treat you. He went to the specialists so we did not have to pay their high prices, or he went back to school to learn all he could about it. He did not just listen to the pill company's as to what to give you. He learned all he could about the ailment and treated you. The whole time i was his patient their was very few times he gave out prescription medication..He did not make us a slave to the Big Pharm..He got to the root of the problem, and helped us that way. He taught the importance of good nutrition, before he gave you a pill. At the end of a visit we were given a bill usually 25.00 if we could pay we did...But we were never sent another one...only told to pay when we could. When he went on vacation..their was always another doctor he left on call to help any of us. and if you had a emergiencey while he was away no matter where he was he called to find out how you were. I had good insurance back then...but he would never accept any insurance. I asked him once how he kept his rates so low compared to other doctors. how he made anything for himself. His answer was..When he bought his home. he built his office on his own property, so he had no rent to pay. He only had one Secretary, and one nurse. He never accepted insurance to cut out all the costs accounted with that, and it cut out all the extra work for his Secretary. which cut his costs way down, and he never had to treat his patients according to their rules, he could do what he thought was the best..He never sent out bills which cut out extra work, and costs... He cut out all the things he considered a waste of time and energy..So he could spend the time with his patients. He was able to keep his costs low, and he said in the 50 years he was a doctor so far he did not have anyone that did not pay...If they got behind or could not pay for awhile...they always caught up when they could. Which he said built trust..and it cut some of the stress out of his patients life, because we knew that he would always be their for them even if we did not have the money. He was one of the Best doctors i ever knew, and more should be like him. He is in his 90's now..and retired... Back in the day most doctors were just like Doc. Smith. But today they are few. and it is hard to find one. You are right their are not many company's or doctors out their that care anymore. But like the Bible tells us in the end time... Men will become lovers of them selves...The love of money is the root of all evil. Hearts will grow cold towards others.

Honestly, I think they are in it for the money especially the pharmaceutical industry. But for doctors, I think they are some who are not just in for the money but also for service. But these are only few doctors and most are really, as what everyone says, in it for the money. I really hope the health care system would be more people-oriented than profit-oriented. More government/public hospitals should be established to give free and affordable healthcare to all and also I hope more health benefits can be implemented for employees. We must say no privatization of healthcare!

I don't think there is anymore. I mean, if you get well then you spend less. I always wonder if for some of the ailments today, they could easily cure them but it would mean less money for them. I think nowadays people are so money focused that not too many doctors or pharmaceutical CEOs care if it makes money. I mean even if you get better from the medicines or treatment, they have such horrible side effects from time to time that you have to buy something else from them.

It starts with the food-pyramid ... it's a government-conspiracy to make us sick, stuffing us with breads that serve as a breeding ground for disease

Only if you have a disease very interesting and they are able to cure you. Otherwise they are not. Pharma is big business, it's all about the money, the credit they get for it and about ignoring facts like terrible side effects. No there are no healers, not if they are these kind of doctors, who do it for the glory to heal. They want their status, to be god and be overpayed for it as well.
