I have not personally been issued a warning by Comcast, but I received an e-mail 4 days ago regarding an unacceptable spying operation that AT&T, Cablevision, Comcast, Time Warner, and Verizon have launched. Basically, the automated system that they have put in place can slow or block your internet connection if they even *suspect* you of downloading copyrighted material. There are no courts involved, you are pretty much at the mercy of these companies.
I read an article about the warnings the company I use (Comcast) will be issuing, and it all just seems like none of this is being appropriately implemented --though I don't think it should have been implemented period. Are you aware of this new operation? Fightforthefuture.org is the site group that sent me the original e-mail, but I imagine other groups are spreading the word about this as well. According to Fight for the Future, there are ways to protect yourself, namely using a VPN (Virtual Private Network) to route your traffic through a virtual ISP, preventing the Six Strikes system from spying on your internet activities. One recommended VPN was Private Internet Access, which will act as a VPN for as little as $3.33/month. Yes, it is something that you have to pay for, but they are providing you a beneficial service for just a few bucks a month. And no, I am not a spokesperson. :P I don't even use the service, but I am certainly looking into it. Spread the word!

I tend to be pretty law-abiding as well, but I'll admit to the occasional ripping of a song from Youtube. But nothing like torrents or downloading whole movies. With the way Comcast already acts, I'd rather be protected than not...who knows what they'll come up with next!
