Since i knew a visa type at NZ called ' working holiday visa' ,which is available for Chinese people, I made up my mind to get this visa to visit NZ one day. From now, I'm working on it. Because this visa needs Chinese people to prove our english level,so I have to take IELTS test as the first step of my plan. IELTS test is not very easy to take and it seems the most tough task for a lot of Chinese people to get the visa. Of course, there is only 1000 quotas per year available for China-land people. It's also the barrier for those person who wanna go to working holiday. Anyway, I will realize my plan step by step. so what is your travel plan? have you heard about this working holiday visa?

Good luck! I know nothing about working holiday visas, but I do know that visas of various sorts are often quite difficult to obtain. I rather wish it weren't so, but I do understand some of the reasoning behind it. New Zealand is a beautiful country, I would go there on a working holiday in a heartbeat! I visited with my family for a few weeks while in high school, it's easy to fall in love with the country and the people.

Thx~lol~ yeah~ it's quite difficult to gain it. this kind of visa gives people who hold it for a year-long staying at NZ. you can work while travel around to sense the different customs in this country, which is a good way to spend people's gap year. i envy you for you already been there before~ i wish i could feel the same way how you feel about NZ soemday in the near future~ lol

I have heard about working holiday visa. Unfortunately, Nigeria where I am a citizen is excluded from the program. Nigerian wishing to come to New Zealand have to apply as a tourist, visitor, student or worker. But the working holiday visa is out of our reach because Nigeria is not among the countries allowed to participate.
But it is a kind of an unfair discrimination across nationality.

In 1993 I got a working holiday visa for Australia. It was issued to me at Australia House in London. It let me work in casual jobs for up to 3 months and lasted for one year. I am British so I didn't need to take an English test. I found work as a children's nanny, a factory packer and a charity collector. I was aged 20 to 21 on that fantastic part of my trip around the world.
In 2001 I got a working holiday visa for New Zealand from the New Zealand High Commission in London. I went to all the expense of getting my teaching qualifications assessed and applied to be registered as a teacher in New Zealand. I went to New Zealand and didn't manage to find a teaching job. I even applied for shop work but didn't get that either. I was aged 29 years old on that lovely trip. I did sightseeing instead of work in New Zealand.
Good luck.
