Singapore's education system is quite different from my own country as I have to face both heavy school workload and variety of activities here. I've been here for about 4 months and found that there are many chances to develop leadership and interests here and also more than enough opportunities to volunteer to contribute to the society. As I have so many interests, I joined many clubs and became a bit busy now. Also, in order to find my potential abilities, I always feel like participating in as many activities as possible. But then whenever i see my friends study hard, I feel worry about myself. Because sometimes if you have lot of things to concern about, you find yourself hard to focus on one thing.

So you are studying in Singapore.I don't have any idea about the studies there. One thing I want to know from you is,can't you curtail the number of your interests?I am asking this question because you have conveyed you get too busy with your activities and can't concentrate on your studies.I can understand your situation.Nobody in your situation can pay attention to his or her studies. The only way out, therefore,in my opinion,is curtail your interests,if possible. That way you can have sufficient time to concentrate on your studies.

ummm,in fact there are many international students jus like me.At first we thought we can handle it easily as the first few weeks' study is quite relaxing. but soon we find thatthe school workload became heavier and heavier... i am just a bit busy now because i've cut down some activities and i know thatif i remove ativities i can have sufficient time to study. the problem is that, study seems so boring.Should i really do that as my friends?

Hello bravewomen and think you should just keep an tab on studies while you are doing your activities. As you mentioned there are more chances of practice world things, you should give more time to it, but on other hand should also study hard but without worrying about it.
If you worry, think 30% of brains go nuts already before even holding on to study,
The decision is up to you you wanna be an certified professional or an good practical professional.
If you really have good memory than wish you all the best earn both things in excellence, nothing is impossible in world till we have our strong will with us.
Good luck.

I like your last sentence. Both of them are very important to me actually. But I do not have good memory and I find that my friends who are studying hard rarely go out with me. However, I do want to manage both things in my life by working harder. There is always a way out, right?

Being involved with a lot of activities can surely help you in the future. However, I do think that you should focus more on your studies so that you can have good grades and that you may be able to be accepted in one of the great companies where your skills can be used.

It is too far away..I am still studying in the secondary school. But you know, in Singapore, even secondary schools make students very stressful.I see many of my friends look sad and tired because of the coming tests. I am not stressful just because I do not really care how much i will score.I still have time to work hard in sec 4. Since I have the opportunities to participate in good activities, I always choose to focus on activities. But the teachers seem to be worried about me. And my friends, too.

It sounds like you are a multitasker. If you feel overwhelmed you should quit on some of your activities. Just keep the ones you like best. If you have your hands so full it's hard to focus. I think that it's better to become great in few things than to be avarage in many.

You mean that i need to cut down some activities? I think I have already cut down a lot. now i only focus on designing, videos making and band which i can not reduce anymore because i really love them. it is quite hard to choose which one to focus you know.

All I can say is keep it balanced, be it work or play. If you're already having problems focusing on one, then cut down the "play". You need to prioritize your studies first since that's what's more important. I used to study a lot, and do less fun and the stress really got into me. It can really do a number to your health.

Being involved in extracurricular activities will definitely help you. But t this point, I think you should prioritize your studies first. That is the main reason why you are there in the first place, right? Once you have you studies down pat and on track, then you can see to inject a couple of activities outside your studies.
