I understand what you mean! My son recently married a girl whose mother speaks very little English. I speak very little Spanish and what I do understand, I cannot recognize because everyone speaks so FAST!! It is hard to learn a different language and I really admire you for trying so hard. I'm going to be taking Spanish classes, I just haven't decided whether in person or online. I wish I was in the same place as my family so that my son's wife could teach me Spanish. That, or that the people would not speak so fast!!

Hi, there are free Spanish lessons in YouTube, there's one guy there who is really popular now because he teaches detail by detail, I even downloaded each of his video. He teaches south American Spanish, he's a Spanish teacher in real life. But he only teaches the basic Spanish in YouTube. I wish I could paste the URL here but I'm not sure if I can yet.

Thank you Meumeu!! That will help and I won't have to travel to a class. Although I do love to go to classes I really can't afford it right now and this will be very, very helpful.

Hi, how are you? , Your english is fine, you stummered and didn't understand what the lady was saying because you were nervous. If you were relax during that time, I'm sure you will be able to communicate good enough, As I read your post, I can understand your english just fine which only means that you understand it well enough too. I think it's normal to non-natives to stummer especially when they don't really use the language in their daily life. You should grab the opportunity to practice the language as often as you could if you are really interested. Good luck.

We speak and understand English quickly because it's our native language. If I heard you speaking your native language, it would sound fast to me.

Hello Tushavi! I think you speak on here well enough for people to understand but the more you practice, then the better you will become at speaking English so maybe go have lessons or ask someone you know to give you some lessons every now and then. Maybe you stuttered because you were nervous which is normal so don't worry about that. :) Learning how to speak English hasn't got anything to do with god. Well that is my opinion. I don't see how it should have anything to do with god. Good luck. Happy MyLotting. ~AussieGal~

In the USA English is spoken very differently in different parts of the country. i think it is that way in England also. So people have very strong accents others use words that are common only to that area. Just so you know English is not easy for even us native ones. Hang in there. That means keep trying.

Hi, Tushavi. Many of us native English users often feel the same way when hearing conversations in other languages. In truth, we aren't actually talking fast, It only seems that way to you. Same can be said, when you are discussing things with others in your own native language. It will only seem to us non natives that you are saying things too quickly. The more fluent you become in English, the less it will sound like we're all babbling on at the speed of light.

I am a native English speaker, so for me it is something that came to me because of the nurture that I had in my life. I also studied Spanish for many years when I was younger and though I had really good control of the English language within three years, I studied Spanish for five years and I don't have very much control of the language. I think that individuals that start to learn a language when they are younger and they are also more exposed to the language will get a better control over a second language than a person that doesn't use the second language all the time.

English is not my native language as well, the only reason some people pick up on it really quickly is because they are exposed to it at very young age. I understand English and can speak it to some degree but I don't remember when I started doing both of those things. My theory is I learnt most of it from watch television as a child because almost all the programs in my country are in English and no one speaks the language when I'm at home, I guess you have to adept when your country has 11 official languages and English is used as a medium.

Yeah, it has something to do by God. The others will say, it's not but really God made everything for everyone. You definitely can't talk if God not created your mouth, nor can't breath properly if you don't have nose and the same things for the others. God is not doing magical things for people like Kazaam and then you're good in English now if that's what the other people thinking about the question, as for me God gave people everything, our ability to learn things and hone the skills and talents we have. Everyone can learn English, it's very difficult and challenging at first but time will come that you can speak it like a native one can do. Just focus yourself to it and pray to God about it and God will help you, just have faith of what you're praying for. Native speaker of English can speak that way because they live in an environment where English is spoken, if one american suddenly live in China or in Japan, they will definitely sound funny imitating how to speak other countries language. Now why other people learn fast? That is becoz, they focus their self in one thing and that is English, you have all the mechanics, stuffs that you can use given by God to learn, now it is a matter of how are you gonna use it and how you'll focus yourself of what your learning at.

Hi friend ! God knows and speak different languages but God has nothing to do with how one speaks English. It is from the educational background and training that made one to speak English fast and well. It is just a matter of learning how to speak and write correct English and more practice of it . you will not notice soon you speak very good and fast English . You can do it friend ! All the best !

Well! speaking in one's native language is natural isn't it? God's gift is the ability to speak and understand . .Some people pace their words while some just talk so fast that others cannot understand. It is just a way. If it were in your native language too, you cannot understand if someone were to run through his speech. Since English has become a dominant language you tend to feel inadequate. Do not worry; attend some ‘Communication /Personality development'classes and you will improve. Basically, you are diffident and scared. Rest assured that all people who speak fast are not right.

There is a quirk in the brain of young children, to learn the language spoken around them. I suspect, but there really isn't a way to find out, if they understand everything, but since most people speak a little more simply for a child, they don't. Now, some adults learn languages pretty rapidly, but English isn't one that I suspect most people can do that with. When there are words that sound the same like "there" "their" and "they're" but mean such different things. Then words that almost sound the same "then" and "than" but mean such very different things. Then you have "raised" (like build a structure) and "raze" (that means tear down a structure) http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/raze How about "break" and "brake". I don't know how people learn this language... of course you are talking to someone who has a language learning problem... I can speak and write English, but I can't tell you how to diagram a sentence or anything.

It is depend on the person. They can practice and study it so that if they want to take interview in a call center, they will be easily hired. Of course, don't forget to pray. Miracles is not only done by God, it is also done by people.

It's by God and it's by chance. I learn English in school. We have great English books in elementary school and Filipinos insert English in Tagalog conversation so even a preschool can understand English. So as time goes by, people here turn bilingual or even 3 languages.Thank God english is our second language here so it's easy to understand.

You just have to practice writing and speaking English at home or in your work place regularly. Practice makes perfect. Also, you should know the proper grammar, terms, etc. when you start learning and practicing. I hope you'll succeed. God bless!
